To say it's tableWARE not tableWEAR

I've received at least two marketing emails from large, well known shops referring to it as tableWEAR.

Is this some new play on words I'm not getting, a play on "dressing the table"?

Or simply copywriters and marketers that can't spell?

Surely tableWEAR would be clothing you wear at the table. Like Sports wear, or night wear.

Maybe tablewear is clothes that are made of wood, that you accessorise with little chair earings and a cutlery necklace?

And if you were to be so exhausted after a big dinner using said tableware that you needed a nap immediately you would lie down on the table, not bloody lay down.

Clothes made of recycled tables?
