I have to take a Covid19 test and have Hypermesis Gradvarium, AIBU to be bricking it?

Because if you are sick it invalidates the test!
I'm really worried and im trying not to scare the kids the whole process is really unpleasant anyway, i have a child with Autism so its going to be a rough time anyway before me
Has anyone else been in a similar situation with similar worries?

Why do you need to have a swab? Can you do it yourself? If so I think I’d actually just do the nasal swab as well as you can- so the full 10-15 seconds... as that would be better than an inconclusive vomit stained swab. My nephew has ASD and I knew he was t coping with the tonsil swab part when I did his test and so I didn’t swab there for long at all and then just did the nasal part well. His result was positive so the swab worked.

I'd just do the nasal swab. No way you will be able to do the throat swab with HG.

No way in this world could I have done the throat swab when I had HG - definitely just go for the nasal swab.

I also have severe HG and had numerous hospital admissions. They let me do just the nasal swab, it's not nice but HG is worse. My advice is don't do It yourself and get nurse to do it for you. Good luck hope you are okay... x

Do you have to write anywhere why you can't do it?

DH works at the mobile testing units and just doing the nasal will be fine, they're all lovely there and happy for you to take your time. You wouldn't be the first to throw up from a test (plenty of people invalidate their tests in lots of unique and interesting ways) and they would just give you another one!

I did a test for the ipsos Mori survey and couldn't get it anywhere near the back of my throat and that was without HG. I just have a sensitive gag reflex and retched multiple times. I just did the nasal swab in the end.

Oh lord you poor thing HG is the worst. The throat swab really made me wretch so it’s good that people are saying a nose swab is fine.
