Purchased a second-hand item via Gumtree. Stupidly paid half the price up and agreed to pay remainder on receiving the goods via post. Seller claims it was posted but never arrived to me. Seller agreed to refund me and claim item value back on insurance. Now seller is not responding to contact. I only have the sellers email and the bank account I transferred the money to and no other details. Is there anything I can do to get my money back? Should I report to police for fraud? Should I take it as a lesson and move on? Help/advice needed
PS only lost about £60 do not much thank God. Wouldn't have agreed to prepay if it was much more

£60 is quite a bit of money, especially in these tough times. If I were you I'd report them to gumtree and pursue them through that. They'll have their contact details on file and you could pass that onto police if you take it that far. I'd also speak to my bank but when I went through something similar buying a car there wasn't anything I could do as it was a bank transfer but banks do differ. Good luck!

You paid them via bank transfer?

If so i'm sorry the money is gone.
