So I know this year has had some real shit - mental health, death, redundancy etc.

I've read a book to help with my mental health issues and something it has lead to is reflecting on the positive things as we have a habit to think only of the worst.

So I ask you lovely lot to please tell me at least ONE thing that is good that's happened this year!

I also beg you to not respond "I can't think of anything, it's shit'. I'm hoping that we can spread some more positivity.

I will start:
I found the wedding dress I loved that was £2.4k in the shop for £68 on ebay inc p&p in my size - it's perfect. I was buzzing for a week.

This willl sound strange but we had a really wonderful funeral for my DDad. The setting, celebrant and family contributions made it very near to perfect. I’m very thankful for that.

FoxtrotOscarPoppet · 23/11/2020 18:02

I managed to fall pregnant and move to a newer, better job.

justsayso · 23/11/2020 18:04

Wow amazing find with your wedding dress I bet you were pleased!
Mine are
Started a new job that I really like in the field I trained in
And
Being able to work from home so I don't have to be out of the house all day!
Long may WFH continue!

MarieIVanArkleStinks · 23/11/2020 18:10

The swimming pools are reopening next week. I'm the happiest I've been for an entire month!

MarieIVanArkleStinks · 23/11/2020 18:12

Oh, and we've been thinking of buying a camper van in the medium-term future and travel restrictions have meant there's an unprecedented demand for camper vans right now. Where there's a surplus of demand, at some point there'll be an excess. Will be keeping my eyes peeled for a good bargain in due course!

I had both kids at home for 6 months (I’m on mat leave and had to send eldest to keep place open queue massive numbers guilt) but with lockdown one I had both at home and we had such a lovely time. Saved money with nursery being closed and spent loads of time together. It was pretty epic

sapnupuas · 23/11/2020 18:16

I was made redundant in January (so pre-COVID) and quickly found a much better job. And my manager is one of the nicest people I've ever met.

Closingtime94 · 23/11/2020 18:16

I got pregnant with my rainbow baby and we adopted two cats Smile

cantdothisnow1 · 23/11/2020 18:26

We bought a motorhome in July and travelled to France and Scotland when we were able to. Planning new adventures for happier times.

Krampusnacht · 23/11/2020 18:28

My oldest DD found out she's pregnant after TTC for over a year. We're all absolutely delighted 😊

amusedtodeath1 · 23/11/2020 18:30

I got a dog 18 months after my previous dog passed away. I'm so happy, she's a perfect fit and I am so grateful. It's massively improved my anxiety. I'm never alone, I have to go outside for walkies several times a day, I've lost weight and I'm generally much happier. Grin

SimonJT · 23/11/2020 18:32

We got our lovely puppy.

We booked our wedding Grin

Our cat rescue centre has managed to home lots of our 'difficult to home' cats. It's the furlough effect - people are at home and lonely and decide they want a cat.

This year has also caused a lot of negative cat welfare things to happen, but we'll gloss over that.

Procrastination4 · 23/11/2020 18:58

My son and daughter-in-law moved into their “forever” home and sold their first home.

ButterMeUpScotty · 23/11/2020 19:00

I started a course to become a foster carer, because COVID gave me the kick up the bum I needed to look at what I wanted to do in life.

3ismylot · 23/11/2020 19:00

I traced my biological Dad just before Christmas last year, he did not know that I existed as my Mum never told him that she was pregnant.
I went into it with no expectations and almost looking for closure that I would never know him.
However, he has turned out to be an amazing man and I have spent 2020 getting to know him and my siblings and couldn't be happier to have him in my life Smile

Waxonwaxoff0 · 23/11/2020 19:01

I bought my first house, moved in mid lockdown.

I had my 30th birthday in August - when pubs were open all night and we were allowed to see friends in small groups. I had a really lovely celebration.

Lillyhatesjaz · 23/11/2020 19:02

I took on an allotment and have been quite successful in growing vegetables

Thedogscollar · 23/11/2020 19:04

My son after 4 years has settled down and doing what he loves at college. This means everything to me as we have had 4 years of hell getting to this point. Grin

We got a gorgeous puppy.
And my son got into Uni
My DD moved school and is a different girl. She was so unhappy at her old school and is now flourishing.
Lockdown has brought my DC much closer.
