Universal credit

So I'm renting. I receive universal credit with some housing help.

I have just moved as our last landlord sold his property. I have loved now all good. Happy days.

But I was just thinking about when I was looking for somewhere to rent I had 2 landlords turn me down. One was because I receive universal credit he didn't want his name being given to the universal credit. Never thought anything of this before but doesn't that seem strange? If it was because of his mortgage I understand but he actually didn't want the job centre to have his details.... It doesn't matter to me now as I found somewhere but was just thinking about it.

Maybe he has a fraudulent claim in and doesn't declare his income from renting? Or the house as an asset?

Maybe fraud reasons, maybe just wants to protect his privacy. Could be a number of reasons. Maybe it was just an excuse.
