Is Jo Malone perfume worth it?

I received some Jo Malone inspired wax melts and was thinking that my children could club together get me some perfume at Christmas. Is it worth it? If any of you have a Jo Malone perfume could you recommend one? I like clean fresh fragrances.

I've worn Lime Basil and Mandarin pretty well every day since JM was launched. As the day goes by I stop smelling it but others often say I smell nice so I think it is more that it is quite a simple perfume that you stop noticing than it not lasting.

I have the bath oil for the rare occasion I have time for a wallow.

I love her Red Roses... interesting about how its changed with estee lauder owning? Anyone know anything more?

I've thought it was lasting less long but also wondered if it was just me not smelling it after a while!

I think the Estée Lauder buyout is being slightly overstated - they have owned the brand since 1999. Jo Malone herself hasn’t been involved since 2006.

They’ve always been colognes and therefore very dilute but judging by their success and lots of posts on here many people either don’t know or don’t care.

For the same price I’d far rather have Dyptique Bayles. Heavenly.

Wore JM for years but now just wear the Bloom dupes from Superdrug. I tried one when I was on an economy drive and haven't looked back Grin

7Days · 23/11/2020 21:34

If you see Jenny Glow brand dupes they are quite good

JuniperSling · 23/11/2020 22:00

I love the Blackberry and Bay ~ it lasts all day on me. I also have Jo Loves Orange Butterflies which smells gorgeous but wears off really quickly.

ChrissyPlummer · 23/11/2020 22:12

I used to love them and ask for them as presents. I don’t find them as long lasting now, sadly. It may be my skin/hormones though; I used to love Romance by Ralph Lauren but it smells terrible on me now. I wear Miller Harris, Bath House and Stella McCartney now. Lalique used to do a lovely one called Amethyst Eclat but no longer available 🙁.

Hotcuppatea · 23/11/2020 22:14

They smell lovely, but fade too fast for the price. I wouldn't buy again.

Onynx · 24/11/2020 00:13

@ChrissyPlummer Ralph Lauren Romance used to be my go to perfume- I even remember it being launched when I was in Montreal one summer as a student and I just adored it. Over the years they have changed ingredients and its gone so watered down now I can't even smell it on my wrist half an hour later🤷🏻‍♀️

I would stay away from Jo Malone. They claim to be an ethical company that don’t test on animals, UNLESS animal testing is required by law in the country they’re selling. So they DO test on animals.
As mentioned, Jo Malone sold the business to Estée Lauder and has since started a new line Jo Loves which is ethical and sustainable.
I guess that sort of info will affect the way some people shop, but not others. It’s up to you but I feel it’s best to have all the info to make an informed choice ✌🏻

@standupsitdownturnaround

Perfume parlour is brilliant and indistinguishable from originals (blind smell test on Tom Ford dupe)

The scents last beautifully, particularly the pure oil roller balls.

They do 3ml rollers of each send tor about £3 so you can try

Do you know if they test on animals ?

I had never heard of perfume parlour before reading these comments. I’ve looked at their website but can’t see anything about ethics/sustainability etc. So I’ve sent them an email to establish if they are cruelty free and if so, which industry accreditations they have. Usually companies promote these things if they do have them. I’ll keep you posted!!

Not tried, but these seem to be dupes as well and cruelty free.

Shmithecat2 · 16/05/2021 11:26

I love them. Yes, they are a bit overpriced, but I still buy them. I wear Peony and Blush Suede a lot. They also did a limited edition one years ago that I fell in love with, Osmanthus Blossom.

Grilledaubergines · 16/05/2021 12:59

If you like the scents then of course. I prefer Jo Loves fragrance - Jo Malone knows her stuff, and the combinations are beautiful. Again, not cheap, but long lasting.

ssd · 16/05/2021 13:02

Basil and neroli is gorgeous

NanuNanuM · 16/05/2021 13:05

Try Abbey Perfumery. Small independent - look onine.

I got sent a sample box and reminds me of JM scents which I love. Last all day.
