I’m 24 and have discovered that I’m pregnant. I’ve been with the father a matter of months had been talking to him for a about a year in total. I’ve got mental health problems and am still under secondary care but I’ve been stable ish for a few months. I’m torn about what to do.

What do you want to do? What support do you have?

Were you using contraception? Or was this a mutual agreement to dispense with it?

I was on the pill but was sick one day and I assume that’s what caused it to fail. I did take the morning after pill but obviously it didn’t work.I do want the baby but in my head I know it’s not ideal.

What do you want to do? If you weren't pregnant, would you want to be, and with this man?

Whichever way you decide, you have options.

He’s a lovely man and someone I would want as the father of my children. I’m just not sure if this early it’s the right thing and with the fact I’m still under secondary mental health services how they will react to the pregnancy.

Oh this is very difficult for you OP, you need to have a conversation with the health team that remain involved regarding the impact of a pregnancy on your mental health. It can be a challenging time emotionally and hormonally, it can also mean that your medications need to be reviewed. Make sure you’re fully informed. Your health is the most important thing.

I only found out yesterday so it’s still very early days. I’m planning to call my team tomorrow and ask for an urgent review.
