To think that a stomach bug should only last 24 hours max?

and not run into day 4 as DD's has? Little love vomited early hours of monday morning, felt sick the rest of the day, same on tues and weds (but no vomiting) and then today has not kept a single thing down. Since when has the 24 hour bug evolved into a 4-5 day marathon?

Not all bugs are 24 hour ones.

I know, it's just that we don't seem to have 24 hr ones anymore in this household.

Sorry to give you a downer, my ds's bug was (is)
Week 1) Diorhea
Week 2) Vommitting, hospital for rehydration
Almost 6 weeks later and he is still having bottom problems although for the last two weeks has been full of beans and eating well for the last 3 now.

these little buggers can last a week or more.. I think the general rule is that providing there is no vomiting and fluids are being taken in then things are as good as they can be...

Once it starts to flow out of all ends then you got to worry

YANBU - I had one that lasted two weeks recently and triggered practice contractions. Until then I thought they were a 24 hour thing too. Hope your DD feels better soon

great, lovely, now into day 5!

The midwife said my bug lasted so long because pregnancy lowers your immune system so your DD's shouldn't last for two weeks.

same here

ds2 (Nearly 3) vomited on Saturday and has diarrhoea for most of the week. that cleared up but now he has a croupy cough and is not very well at all.

I rang the doctor and he said these viruses can last up to 7-10 days!

hennipenni · 19/10/2007 17:14

Fortunatly we haven't had the diarrhoea, just the vomiting and nausea. She also has had a chesty horrid cough too.
