Just shouted up to ds 16 (gaming with his mate) that this time next week we will have our Christmas tree.. And did he know what that meant...
Heard him explaining to his mate - with a groan - that I had bought everyone Xmas duvet sets that I put on when we got the tree!! His has pugs on wearing xmas hats!
Ds 25 wasn't amused last year when I called for a cuppa, snuck upstairs and put his on!!
They all display Xmas soft toys and musical decorations in their rooms also!!
They are good to me!!

You stripped and remade your 25yo sons bed in his own home? Did you boil some bunnies on the stove at the same time? It's fucking weird.

AvoidingRealHumans · 21/11/2020 20:39

Oh lighten up Bernadette Hmm I think it shows a nice relationship with her (adult) child.

BernadetteRostankowskiWolowitz · 21/11/2020 20:41

Sorry, it's pretty grim.

SaffieSoph · 21/11/2020 20:43

I think this sounds funny! My kids are too young but will probably do something like this!

Worried234 · 21/11/2020 20:43

@BernadetteRostankowskiWolowitz

Sorry, it's pretty grim.
That's a bit harsh, maybe. However making an adults bed up with xmas bedding is perhaps a little bit much.
Fancynancyclancy2 · 21/11/2020 20:45

@BernadetteRostankowskiWolowitz if somebody came to my house and made my bed up for me I certainly wouldn’t complain. 🤣🤣

I think it’s funny and nice that you have that kind of relationship, they may groan now but these little things are what will be remembered years from now.

Santaisironingwrappingpaper · 21/11/2020 20:48

My ds had just moved out after buying his own home (alone).. Just wanted him to feel still part of our xmas celebrations!!
Funnily when he washed it he put it back on!!
Wasn't traumatised or feeling violated in any way!
Actually my ds 19 told me a few weeks ago it made him feel still 'looked after' when I make his up for him coming home. He is a soldier and well able to do it himself.
Still their dm, adults or not!!

@BernadetteRostankowskiWolowitz

Sorry, it's pretty grim.
It's making a bed, not incest.
Sparticuscaticus · 21/11/2020 20:56

Hahaha!!
Your Sons sound funny to humour you! I bet you've been doing a countdown to Xmas.

Will Xmas pug duvets be making a return?

Santaisironingwrappingpaper · 21/11/2020 20:57

He wasn't naked in it when I stripped it!

Sparticuscaticus · 21/11/2020 20:58

OP - ignore Bernadette, I don't think she realised it is light hearted thread

Squirrelblanket · 21/11/2020 21:01

Aww OP I think that was really sweet and funny! It sounds like you have a lovely relationship with your sons. And I am all for EVERYTHING CHRISTMAS! Grin

Rosebel · 21/11/2020 21:02

I think that's funny. Wish I'd thought of it for my kids.

Santaisironingwrappingpaper · 21/11/2020 21:04

Duvet sets are ready! Ds's 6 and 12 have light up cushions to match theirs!!
And dcats have a sleigh bed each too!!
Making effort with your dc doesn't stop when they reach 18!
Bah humbug to whom it applies. Get duvet hunting to the rest!!

OP posts:
LuaDipa · 21/11/2020 21:09

I think it’s lovely. My 14 yo humours me and I hope it continues well into adulthood.

Nottherealslimshady · 21/11/2020 21:12

@BernadetteRostankowskiWolowitz
She gave his fleshlight a quick wash while she was there too Hmm

I think it sounds cute OP

Mamabem · 21/11/2020 21:12

BeingATwatItsABingThing · 21/11/2020 21:30

I think you changing your DS’s bedding to the Xmas bedding is funny. Grin

My DDs are still little 6yo and 8wo so don’t humour me yet but DH definitely does.

He only rolled his eyes when I bought Harry Potter bedding for our bed and doesn’t object to us using it. He wears the matching family outfits I bought for us all without any moaning. He used to be a grinch but now fully embraces Christmas with my family.

He’s good to me.

Grumpasaurus · 21/11/2020 23:11

My DS is only four but he already humours me by giving me cuddles.

I heard him telling his little friend once "mummy ALWAYS want cuddles when she wakes up" in an exasperated voice.

Sparticuscaticus · 27/11/2020 00:37

I really enjoyed this thread so far and feel sad it didn't capture Funny MNers collective imagination!

I await posters saying how their DCs - adult or young-still- humour them , at Xmas or elsewise. Remember, it's clearly meant to be silly and light hearted!

I'll add in mine....

My DCs humour me- teens and one newbie adult!- as I've always blown 5+ (maybe sometimes 20) kisses into air in their bedrooms when saying ' night love you sleep tight mwah mwah..'

Cutie young DCs used to love that mum kisses would land on them during the night and they'd try to immediately capture as many as they could and put them to their lips by pudgy toddler hands .

But there's Nothing like humouring of mum regardless by a grumpy teen cocooned like a weary slug in their quilt with no visible face, who still humouring mum..). "gnmpf .. night mum... " ) by shooting out an arm and hand still to pretend to catch at least one air kiss without breaking a sweat! 😆🥰

I sometimes imagine they are in their teen hoodies under that quilt cocoon at bedtime but never too big to grab at least one mum air kiss! 🤣😆 yup ... they humour me ... even the 18 yo ..:

It's our "Night Jimbob" Waltons version

sparticuscaticus · 27/11/2020 02:16

Pls. I always kiss my toddlers / preteens cute faces and soon learnt teenagers don't tolerate kisses so you have to check if allowed to kiss tops of their heads first...

(My top tip is be busy " with work " and teens come to you and drop hugs and kisses on you!! )

I'm now looking for Xmas duvets sets to surprise my almost adults/ teens, we do Xmas snuggly blankets every year but I love love OPs funniness!

grassisjeweled · 27/11/2020 02:20

Can I come and live at yours, op?

Grin🎄

Santaisironingwrappingpaper · 27/11/2020 12:48
