Changes to planning regulations

...'fast track deemed consent route under section 74B of the Town and Country Planning Act 1990'...

I'm surrounded by construction. I'm in a built-up area but have a large garden, with countless wildlife. I have foxes, squirrels, hedgehogs, etc. I was previously bordered by a school playing field and a large plot, alongside ours. Now properties are being built on these plots, abutting our borders. I expected the playing field to be built on, but not the plot on the other side. It doesn't help that I have a terrified rescue dog who won't venture outside because of the noise, etc.

My AIBU: 'How much legislation has been slipped through under the excuse of covid?' I went on the government website to check that we wouldn't have to put up with the construction activity outside a certain time, eg outside 8am-6pm, Monday to Friday, only to find local councils aren't allowed to object unless they have a really good cause. The normal planning regulations have been changed. Who does that suit I wonder? This morning I was woken by vibrations shaking my bedroom floor - reasonable hours, but what is this doing to the foundations of my property?

If you really fancy a good read take a look at the white paper for planning reform - if that happens then it’s unlikely you’ll get a chance to object either.

I’m being slightly flippant, but as someone in the field the amount of change during covid with little or no notice had been unbelievable. Some will be really damaging.

Thanks FrankRatt - your response shows me that I've a reason to be worried. It's too late for me, as I have no route to object, and it's happening. I'm already surrounded, and my city, which previously never allowed construction of buildings that altered the look of the historic centre, is throwing up student lets/sub-lets left right and centre. But your sentence, "...amount of change during covid with little or no notice had been unbelievable"... confirms my belief.
