Have been inpatients in a mental health hospital?

I haven't been. Come fairly close once or twice though.

poorlyearboy · 20/11/2020 23:39

No. And not everyone who has been an inpatient goes to secondary care services.

Broadbeanssleeping · 20/11/2020 23:39

It's not really recommend for certain mental illness.

Valkadin · 21/11/2020 01:06

What’s your real information need? Is it about accessing secondary care MH services?

PurpleFrames · 21/11/2020 01:12

I personally didn't get a place in the CMHT until after an admission due to lack of capacity in my area.

Is there a concern you have about secondary care?

chickenyhead · 21/11/2020 01:14

No.

Why do you ask?

WTF99 · 21/11/2020 01:14

Lots of people under CMHTs have not been under inpatient care.

Every single person I've ever met who has a CTO has, at some point, been subject to a detention. This is more a scathing indictment of how exactly Care in the Community works in reality, versus how it was supposed to work in principle.

In so far as people who simply have ongoing contact with CMHT, no, certainly in my experience the vast majority have been parked there after therapy, or a referral from a GP, but have not necessarily ever set foot in a psychiatric hospital.
