Battery rant

Once again I narrowly escaped gashing my hand trying to get one of those ‘coin’ batteries out of the pack. Before I get flamed, I do understand perfectly that these can cause horrendous injuries to children, however, I don’t have any children in my home. If anyone has bought them relatively recently, you will have seen that they are completely enclosed in solid plastic, and then there is a plastic sticker to be peeled off. Fortunately, I have pretty good dexterity, and my vision is fine too. What it must be like for people who struggle with these, I cannot imagine. Surely we could have these available in easy open packs as a choice? Additionally, I would have thought that spent coin batteries left within reach of children would pose a greater risk than new ones in packaging.

YABU Everyone needs to buy batteries in child (and adult) proof packaging
YANBU There should be a choice

Yes, there should be a choice - not just for batteries but for other products too. It's merely annoying for me to have to fumble with bleach, medicine etc. but it must be terrible for people who are arthritic. The temptation would be there to decant the products into normal bottles, which would then create the risk of them being mistaken for something else.
