To say this is embarrassing?

Friends partner donated to a Christmas charity for vulnerable kids.
He is very rich and can certainly afford it. However, his wife has gone online gushing about what an amazing man he is and how lucky she is.
Aibu to think this is OTT and that she could have praised him in private?

I was thinking about this the other day. I wish we were as a culture more celebratory of the things we do that are philanthropic. I don't particularly want a medal for anything that I do for others with my time or money, but if I felt able to talk about it more (without accusations of virtue signalling) then it might encourage others. I like to hear about what other people are doing to help society, too because a) it makes me feel like the world is a kinder place b) it gives me ideas of things that I can do and c) because people might do more for public benefit if it was something that we praised as a society, rather than it having to do done in secret to "count".

Well, it may not be the most self-effacinv thing, but I'm not sure starting a resentful thread here to whip up some online castigation is much better. At least he's given some money to a good cause.

Agreed OP. I live near a busy town and plenty of times have brought homeless people hot food and drinks but I don't film myself doing it and stick it on facebook. It is embarrassing.
