If no, what age to you consider old.

TheRuleofStix · 18/11/2020 12:43

No! 80 is old.

vickibee · 18/11/2020 12:44

i am 52 and don't feel old. i have a 13 yo son that keeps me young. i guess old is when you get your pension -66plus

IrisRainbow · 18/11/2020 12:46

I'd say 70+ is old.

Ask me in ten years time and I'll tell you 80+ is old.

Gojetter95 · 18/11/2020 12:46

No, I had always thought of pension age as the marker for being old but then Ive met plenty people in their 60s that do not look or act 'old'.

Tombero · 18/11/2020 12:47

Not now. I did when I was 20. DH and I had a chat last night about how we used to perceive people of our age as old when we first started working and how young people now must see us in the same way Grin

HazeyJaneII · 18/11/2020 12:47

Yes
I'm 51.

GroundAlmonds · 18/11/2020 12:47

45+ is middle age
65+ is “older” or retirement age
80+ is elderly

Peridot1 · 18/11/2020 12:47

No. But then I’m 56 and certainly don’t feel it. Most of the time!

VettiyaIruken · 18/11/2020 12:50

I do. I'm nearly 47 and I am old.

But that's not a bad thing!

In this youth worshipping culture 'old' is a dirty word and that's absolutely ridiculous! There's nothing wrong with being old. You've got years of skills, life experience, wisdom (hopefully 😁) and so on. I feel a million times more confident than I ever did in my youth. Old doesn't mean dull or humourless. I would love to see people embrace 'old' and be positive about it rather than get uptight about it!

Elderly is an appropriate description for when you're frail and again, not an insult, just a fact.

FabbyChix · 18/11/2020 12:50

im 55 i dont feel old

NobodyKnowsTiddlyPom · 18/11/2020 12:50

It's all relative I think. I'm a teacher and have had many children over the years tell me that I'm "really old!" when I was in my 20s and 30s. I'm now early 40s and I think I would consider 50 to be quite old but once I am 50, no doubt I won't be thinking that. I think once you get to the point that you can no longer do something you want to do because your age is preventing you, then you can consider yourself old. For example, I wanted to join the armed forces some time ago (still would if I could) but upon enquiring, found out that I was already, at 36, too old to apply. That made me feel quite sad!

Caroncarona · 18/11/2020 12:51

Yes.

helloxhristmas · 18/11/2020 12:51

Depends on context.

Is 50 too old to be a mum, probably (biologically speaking).
Is 50 too old to wear a mini skirt, no.

Wanttolearnmore · 18/11/2020 12:51

I'd say it was middle aged. Old probably 70+

LioneIRichTea · 18/11/2020 12:56

80 is old for me. People are a lot younger these days in looks, fashion and outlook than they were, even in the 80s.

I see 50s, 60s as still young.

vodkaredbullgirl · 18/11/2020 12:58

Not this again.

Timeflyin · 18/11/2020 13:01

Well im 39 and trying to get my head around turning 40 next year. The idea i could be considered "old" in a decade is quite alarming!

midsomermurderess · 18/11/2020 13:19

No, it's firmly middle-aged. I feel that 65+ is though.

madcatladyforever · 18/11/2020 13:21

YABVU I'm 58 work full time in the NHS and don't feel old at all, my wrinkly neck might say otherwise but I am not old.

Youseethethingis · 18/11/2020 13:22

“Old” to me is 10 years older than my oldest parent. My dad is 65 so currently consider 75+ old.
My dad will never be old. It’s not allowed.

WhentheDealGoesDown · 18/11/2020 13:23

Middle aged, old is state retirement age

LemonsYellow · 18/11/2020 13:30

My view has shifted a lot. I used to think 80 was old. But I now know many people who died in their early to mid 50s, so now I think 50 is a turning point in life - not old exactly, but an age when you could easily die in the next few years, even though you were previously considered fit and well.

Meruem · 18/11/2020 13:31

Yes, I am now 51 and when people ask me questions to break the ice it’s things like “do you have grandchildren?” (I don’t!). When I go to a restaurant I have to get my glasses out to read the menu, I complain about my aches and pains and the menopause.

But does it matter anyway? Whether other people class me as old or young (unlikely!) is of no consequence to me.

5lilducks · 18/11/2020 13:37

No

5lilducks · 18/11/2020 13:38

I'd say 70+ is old
