What is the point of a B Day, does anyone actually use them?

Does anyone have a B day, in this day and age are they still being used? My parents have one and it just got me thinking, like how does it work, I have never used one before, isn't having a shower easier, can someone explain to me?

You don't need one. Just get a smart toilet seat, they aren't expensive.

They are heated, have lights, self cleaning, odour control for really smelly shits (how does that work?) and have a couple of jets, one to clean your arse and the other to water the lady garden. All push button controls.

Fits onto a normal toilet. Yours for 400 quid.

@Handsnotwands

They’re for your fanny after shagging aren't they?
This is what I thought
Nameandgamechange123 · 18/11/2020 07:13

@Fleetwoodmacs me too! I was about to start telling people to get over themselves!

ursuslemonade · 18/11/2020 09:39

Grew up with one and now I bloody miss it. It was used every day by the females in my family. Really useful especially during P-days Wink Wish I had one but we have a tiny bathroom.

GreyishDays · 18/11/2020 09:42

I’d think they’d be good for a quick wash pre-sex. Or after.

NoIDontWatchLoveIsland · 18/11/2020 10:02

The only thing I would say is if your digestive tract is healthy (no constipation etc), when you have a bowel movement there should be very little there to wipe, which is maybe why many of us are fine with just loo roll Confused

Bidets are quite nice and clean though and I can see them coming into fashion for environmental reasons if they dont use too much water

CounsellorTroi · 18/11/2020 10:08

Just as an aside you can now buy sprays that turn your normal bog roll into a wet wipe

Or you could just fill a spray bottle with water.

I take a dump first thing in the morning then shower. So toilet paper is fine. Job done no need for a bidet.

Well, I didn't think that it would be about thinking it's childish; but about how HORRIBLE it is to have one's new age rubbed in and treated as a social occasion. I literally sometimes have nightmares about people forcing me to celebrate 'age milestones'. Maybe that's childish of me, as one doesn't literally become a year older on one's birthday; but I really do HAAAATE my birthday more than almost anything in the universe, except the coronavirus and a few political leaders! No problem with anyone else celebrating theirs, so long as they don't try to celebrate mine!

I'm with you! Although in my case I don't care about age at all. But I do loathe, fear and detest presents, fuss and any acknowledgement of my birthday as any kind in any way.

Question, does it not create a load more laundry? Do you need to towel dry after? So in our house that’s 4 people using a towel each time per day. The washing/drying of all those extra towels would put me off.

jingabellrock · 18/11/2020 10:23

I thought you meant "birthday", OP😂

Bidets could save billions and billions of trees, plus they clean our bottoms far more efficiently than toilet paper. I would love to have at least one again. Too bad they're not marketed 'aggressively'... wonderful things!

TMIincoming · 18/11/2020 10:28

@jessstan1

I'd like one and may have one one day. You can have toilets that are also bidets but I've never seen one so don't know how they work; presumably you flick a switch after 'toileting' and a fountain points upwards. What a thought! I think I'd prefer a separate one but obviously you need to have the room for it.

You’re welcome. (I love Guy Martin)

jessstan1 · 18/11/2020 10:33

That is hilarious, TMincoming!

Yes whenever I’ve stayed in a hotel room with a bidet there are extra towels for it.
EvilPea · 18/11/2020 10:39

In Finland I noticed they had shower heads in all the toilets. Presumably it’s for a little rinse off if needed.

Some times when I’ve got my period I do have to shower each time I go to the loo so I can see why that would be beneficial

Sickofmysalary · 18/11/2020 10:44

Does it mean you need a special bum towel in the bathroom though to dry off withc

EvilPea · 18/11/2020 10:44

this has blown me away

[/quote] Brilliant!!!
jingabellrock · 18/11/2020 10:46

But I don't want a smart toilet seat! I want a bidet.

jingabellrock · 18/11/2020 10:51

And whoever was waffling on about towels: you don't need a blimmin towel cause you're not soaking wet after. This is your bum we're talking about, and bits too if you want, and you don't need a towel. Just pull up your pants or your knickers.

Lorddenning1 · 18/11/2020 11:00

thanks for the laughs everyone, i was tempted to ask MN to change the title for me to the correct name, but i thought i would leave it up so we can all laugh about how stupid i can sometimes, in my defence i had a couple of glasses of wine by this point, and i cant even remember how it came up as a discussion between me and my OH, like i said my mum and dad have one and growing up i have never used it, i think they store towels in it, but reading up on all these fancy toilet seats and stories on Bidets, i now want one and feel like i have missed out :(

@jingabellrock And have a damp crotch all day? Confused

BooseysMom · 18/11/2020 11:46

@PoltergeistPirates.. Loved watching Mick Dundee figure it out. Me and my family were massive Crocodile Dundee fans back in its day. My DM wanted to run away with Paul Hogan!

Pluckedpencil · 18/11/2020 11:56

Moved to a European country. I am a total bidet convert. So much cleaner. Although I would actually prefer one of those shower hoses next to the toilet like they have in asia

PoltergeistPirates · 18/11/2020 12:41

BooseysMom

We watched it to death back in the ’80s too! Paul Hogan was hot stuff!
