Not 100% an AIBU but where does everyone put their clothes when they are not dirty and you plan on wearing them again, either next day or whatever?

I hang mine either over the banister or fold them and put them on my bedside table, my DS puts his on the banister and my DP puts his in a pile on the floor. But thing is he has several different outfits on the go all the time, work clothes, clothes he changes into after work, gym clothes and that means a large pile of clothes on the floor 24/7 it drives me mad!

But I dont actually know where to tell him to put them. Where does everybody have theirs?

AIBU to not want them all over the floor? It constantly makes the room look so messy.

I put on a hanger and hang them up on the wardrobe door handle

LindaEllen · 17/11/2020 21:38

When I lived in my previous house I had a chair, where things would go that I was going to wear again.

If it was something I wouldn't wear for a while (like a pair of trousers I have when I perform with my choir - they don't need washing after every single performance but they wouldn't go on the chair as they wouldn't be needed for a while) they would go back in the wardrobe.

At the moment we don't have a chair as we were going to decorate the bedroom so cleared it all out, but then covid happened and everything went to shit so I've been putting things on the floor next to my bed .. that's not what I like to do, though, and I will absolutely be getting a chair when the decorating has been done!

We have an old wooden bed frame with a footboard, they go over there.

thenightsky · 17/11/2020 22:57

@BessMarvin

I don't reuse anything as the kids snot all over them or whatever but could you just have a separate section of the wardrobe? When I reused jeans they'd be inside out before they are worn and the right way out before the second wear.
So you'd be right way round for 3rd wear and inside out again for 4th wear. I lose count after 5th wear.

I also have The Chair but some things I put on a hanger and hang on the handles of the wardrobe.

My nan has a clothes horse like the pic attached and I would LOVE a more modern one.

Banister. I don't have enough room for a chair.

Baddayatwork · 18/11/2020 07:26

Back in the wardrobe or drawers 🤨 where clothes belong..

Yes this. Thank you @Baddayatwork.

I thought I had slipped into a parallel universe

Why wouldn't you put them away?

HuntedForest · 18/11/2020 09:26

Pollen, mainly.

60sbird · 18/11/2020 09:54

What about an overdoor clothes airer or overdoor towel holder both space saving, I also put mine away in the wardrobe

whopooedinthepyrex · 18/11/2020 09:57

But surely if you were concerned about pollen being on the clothes that you have worn then you would wash them. Therefore they go in the washing basket/washing machine.

Aibuabouteverything · 18/11/2020 10:10

I think I'm just too lazy to put them back in the wardrobe 🤣

Plus I'd have to do it for my DP and DS too because they wouldn't bother to do it if I asked 🙄

I put them back in the wardrobe because there's no room for a chair in our bedroom and if they go on the floor, the cats sleep on them, or use them as a toilet (usually kittens who've come from a troubled background so its not their fault) or vomitarium or place to hide dead rodents.

BarbaraofSeville · 18/11/2020 10:17

They would if you told them you might mistake it for the charity pile and they'd never see those clothes again.

LilaButterfly · 18/11/2020 10:19

We have an empty drawer in our dresser for these clothes. However, most of the time they still end up on the floor Blush

Knittedfairies · 18/11/2020 10:20

The chairdrobe.

justilou1 · 18/11/2020 10:22

I have a couple of knobs on the back of the wardrobe door and I put things on hangers on those.

KatharinaRosalie · 18/11/2020 10:25

If they are clean enough to be worn again then back in the wardrobe of course. I absolutely hate random piles of clothes everywhere.

RonObvious · 18/11/2020 10:25

Floordrobe.

SciFiScream · 18/11/2020 13:07

The chair or a hangar which I then hang on the outside of the wardrobe either on the door handle or on an over door hook (ikea) at the top of the wardrobe door. I also have a pocket shoe hanger behind the bedroom door where I roll up gym clothes that can be worn again (rare I end up a sweaty mess so often washed every time!)

I have lots of tidy folding methods/techniques so often specially folded on the floor under the chair during the night and then on the bed during the day.

ApolloandDaphne · 18/11/2020 13:11

If I plan to wear them the next day I leave them folded on the floor otherwise I just put them back in my wardrobe. I do t understand why you wouldn't? My clothes are not filthy so they are not going to contaminate the rest of my clothes.
