Christmas

I have 3 dd's and we alternate Christmas with their Dad. Every year whether they are here or not I do them a stocking. 2 of them are teens now but I still do it. Anyway when they aren't with their Dad for Christmas he doesn't do them a stocking and never has. I can kind of understand it now they are older. I was just wondering what other families do in this situation? Maybe I'm just over generous but I do love to spoil them at Christmas!

I'm in my 20s and married and MIL did me a stocking when we stayed with them last Christmas - you're never too old for a stocking Grin
But I wouldn't say that a teenager who no longer believes in Father Christmas will be scarred for life if they don't get a stocking

You might get more responses if you post in the Christmas threads OP.

I don't do stockings. But I do gifts. Are you saying he doesn't get them a gift at all when they are at yours for Christmas? If it's just not a stocking full of tat then fair enough - you do you he does him. But if it's no presents at all then that is out of order.

You love to spoil your dc at Xmas 🎄 😁😁😁🎅🎁❤️🎄☃️⛄🤶.

Who doesn't... Apart from the mn
.'' all I had was a wood whittle and a lump of wood and it was magical and I loved it and I didn't miss out '' Brigade!

Life is short we will be dead soon... Spoil your children!!

My parents are hoping to visit for christmas. Im doing them each a stocking! Otherwise my two young kids will think FC forgot them!

Stockings aren't what I would call "tat" tho. In ours its chocolate money, an orange & raisins, novelty christmas socks and then interesting small bits I spot through the year. So this year I've got a couple of environmentally friendly replacementy things for them each (nicer reusable versions of things they currently use a lot of disposables of), a little inexpensive gadget I know my mum wants, a magazine my dad always reads at Christmas, a particular confectionary item we always get dad at christmas, a mini champagne bottle for mum & a single malt miniature for dad etc, and mugs with pictures of the kids (they love these).

Well my parents still do me and my siblings a stocking and we are all in our 30's!
They get a present but no stocking from their Dad but he has 2 other dc's who do get stockings. I guess that's what annoys me. Even if it was just smellies, make-up etc. Doesn't have to be much just stuff they need when they are there

How many stockings does one person need?

missyB1 · 17/11/2020 19:08

Does it really matter? Surely stockings are to be hung up in the house you are in on Xmas eve? If they aren't at his house why would he be doing a stocking? It doesn't make any sense! And they would be getting a stocking from you anyway. Im sure they are getting enough presents - remember its not a competition!

ToffeePennie · 17/11/2020 20:19

Stockings are exclusively bought by Father Christmas here. And Father Christmas only visits good children not grown ups. So no stockings for each other, but actual gifts.

2gorgeousboys · 17/11/2020 20:33

We have never had my DSS Christmas Day and as a consequence, he's never had a stocking here. He gets lots of lovely presents that he opens on Boxing Day but not a stocking as that's something for Christma day. Maybe I'm a bad StepMum?

Our DC get stockings Christmas morning and if DSS was here then he would absolutely get one too but they are Christmas day things to me.

No it doesn't matter I was just asking what other people did.

Obviously a pair is more useful than a single one Grin
