To isolate at work?!

Are we mad for considering this? I don't see why it would be against the rules personally...

Me and DH own a business. It's just us. We needed a space to run it from so own a workshop a short time from our house. It has its own facilities including toilet, small kitchen, office, electric etc...

We are now having to isolate due to close contact with a positive case and frankly, we can't afford to not work.

Considering we have this space, would we be mad to just move into work essentially for 2 weeks?! 😂 It would be doable although not as comfy as home obviously but it means we can continue to do our work!

No shower? Novelty will definitely wear off.

larrythelizard · 17/11/2020 17:27

Why can't you work from home instead? Is there some special equipment? It would be a lot comfier!

TeaMeBasil · 17/11/2020 17:35

Do it - it's the same one journey whether you go there or he comes home to isolate so I reckon that balances out.

At least you'll keep busy with work & not stuck worrying about not working!

Good point above about washing facilities though?

icelollycraving · 17/11/2020 17:40

I’d do it. So many businesses won’t survive this. It’s survival. If you aren’t going to be having contact for the period, do what you need to.

CoRhona · 17/11/2020 17:42

I was going to suggest no washing for two weeks might be less pleasant too Grin

vanillandhoney · 17/11/2020 17:45

What are you going to do in terms of washing? Laundry, showers etc.

I would just stay at home and drive backwards and forwards, to be honest. You'll be happier, cleaner and well rested if you're in your own surroundings and sleeping in your own bed.

liveitwell · 17/11/2020 17:48

I'm not sure why you're asking? Of course it's up to you where you isolate. You won't be around anyone so infection risk is exactly the same.

SuperbGorgonzola · 17/11/2020 17:56

@liveitwell she's asking because some people have faced backlash for choosing to isolate somewhere other than their main residence e.g Cummings, Allsop etc. Of course, they were going for miles and miles and OP is going five minutes but strictly speaking, the advice was to stay at home.

DDiva · 17/11/2020 18:05

Would it not be possible for your h to bring home what you need ? I can imagine the novelty of it will wear off pretty quick. I couldnt imagine being away from home if I became ill. I also think youd need to check your insurance and lease terms.

TheDowagerDuchess · 17/11/2020 18:08

Yes I would do this. You could even get blow up beds delivered from amazon or similar.

Just make sure you don’t “scoot” there as you’ll have people wanting to pull their eyeballs out with irritation!

What did you decide OP?
