I see you have the weights in the background to show the haters you lift.

Can anyone think of witty reply to this please. Iam new to on line dating and rubbish at this. It's in response to a picture I sent of myself.. Weights just happened to be in background.

Personally, I'm still trying to unpick the internal logic of his sentence. I get that some online photo of the OP features her brother's weights in the background, and am familiar with the whole 'haterz gonna hate' phenomenon, but I'm not entirely sure why this guy she's been chatting to is envisaging 'haters' viewing her photo and being impressed (frightened? put off? enraged?) by the fact that it looks as though the OP weightlifts? Is this in an OLD context?

I read that as him trying to be jokey and saying you're strong because you lift which may put off the "haters". It's just an expression.
