I keep getting a feeling that I have something crawling over my skin or within my skin of that makes sense, it's getting worse and it's so annoying but will the doctor think I'm going mad? As it's not a serious problem and with covid and lockdown I don't want to be wasting his time as I can't actually see him being about to do something about an irrational feeling I have.

Please do phone. Can be a sign of a liver problem

When I had it it was a sign my estrogen was v low and needed treatment.

The nhs is open.

it's called 'formication'. A tactile hallucination which feels like bugs or such on/under the skin. It's related to a host of potentially troubling health issues, so best to get it checked out.

MollieMaeve · 15/11/2020 08:07

I had this a couple of years ago; was a simple deficiency that the GP identified via blood tests. Best get it checked, is likely something easy to correct.

Are you taking any medication at the moment?

6demandingchildren · 15/11/2020 11:08

Thank you all for your replies, I just don't want to bother the doctor as even though I find it annoying it seems trivial.
Yes I'm on medications but nothing has changed in the past 2 years, and this weird crawling feeling came on just before the end of the first lockdown.

You asked, people have recommended you do call your GP because it could be any number of things that aren't necessarily trivial, but you still don't want to bother your doctor.

Confused

I am going to call my GP in the morning.
