Hello all

Have posted a few times before you many have been so helpful

What is the role of victim support if you are going through a difficult court case in criminal court?

The hearing was supposed to go ahead Monday - not a word
Turns out it was yesterday and the DC involved let me know

I thought they were supposed to be giving updates?
What is it they do? Do I check in with them?
Sorry can't seem to find that much out about how they usually work from a victims point of view

Thanks all xx

Hello OP, I am not familiar with your previous posts but If you are in England and Wales it is Witness Care who contact you to keep you updated. They are the organisation who liaise between the courts and witnesses telling them when to turn up at court and letting them know the outcome of the trial although there often a time lag. They also liaise with the Witness Service who support victims and other witnesses at court to organise pre trial visits. The Witness Service and Victim Support are voluntary organisations and are not officially informed of trial outcomes.

Also VS and WS can provide referrals to other organisations for inviting support.

Ongoing not inviting!

It's me again. If you click on the link there is a government publication on the care of witnesses at court. Page 22 deals with the Witness Care Unit.

Good luck.
