To let DS dress down

DS7 told me at bedtime when getting his clothes ready for today that it's a dress down day for Children In Need. This is the first I've heard of it. We usually get texts for dress down days. WIBU to send him in dressed down knowing that he might be lying?

Have you not got contact with parents / school to confirm ?!

Orchidflower1 · 13/11/2020 05:28

Just text another parent and check z🤷‍♀️

goldeline · 13/11/2020 05:29

Nobody I know well enough to text before we leave for school at 6:45. We have a long commute.

At our school the kids are dressing In rainbow colours today. I'd let him, it's probably true.

HmmSureJan · 13/11/2020 05:30

Are you driving? I'd take his uniform in the car.

ilovewinterpansies · 13/11/2020 05:30

Likely that it's dress down today for children in need. Many schools do this.

Why would he lie/make this up?!

Roo1000 · 13/11/2020 05:33

Have you checked the school website? There may be something on there. Most primary schools do dress down/fancy dress etc for Children in Need. Take his uniform just in case but I’m sure he’s probably right.

goldeline · 13/11/2020 05:35

Taking his uniform in the car is a good idea, thanks.

I'm not sure why he'd lie, but the school has a tendency to overcommunicate everything. We usually get a combination of text, email and app notification for everything going on so it's made me doubt him. He loves dress down days so a little lie didn't seem out with the realms of possibility.

Does the school have a website and might it be on there in the news or calendar section?

winniesanderson · 13/11/2020 05:43

Do they have a Facebook page or parents group?

goldeline · 13/11/2020 05:43

I've checked the website and there's nothing there, but it doesn't seem to be updated very often. The one event listed was for a parent council meeting in September.

This thread reminds me of the time I took DS who was about 6 at the time to school dressed head to toe in red for Comic relief only to discover I was a week too early. Thankfully he had decided against my offer of spray painted red hair 🤣

Willowwisp23 · 13/11/2020 06:15

It's dress down day for us. They have to wear something red as it's the ruby anniversary of children in need.

Orchidflower1 · 13/11/2020 22:57

@goldeline so what did he wear ?

goldeline · 14/11/2020 10:22

He dressed down. Took his clothes in the car but he was telling the truth. I feel bad for doubting him now! Grin
