DH can moan, slag, criticise his siblings to the hilt. They all have their foibles.

Heaven forbid I share my opinion!

Just had a convo with him about DSiL.
All I did was point out a wee pattern in her "way of talking". I KNOW she does his head in. There's huge history and none of them get on. Half don't talk to the other half. (I'm NC with my family so I'm no stranger to dysfunctional folks)

What is it that makes two folk, ordinarily in love and in tune so divided when it comes to families?
Also - my birthday, so this wine is lovely.

Because they're his siblings that he has known his whole life, and unless they've done something to you or your opinion is asked, its not your entitlement to add more negativity into the mix of what sounds like an already sad situation.

AtrociousCircumstance · 13/11/2020 00:54

He wants to have a rant about his frustrations. If you join in and lay into them too he will feel he has to defend them at a time he really doesn’t want to defend them,

Titsinknicks · 13/11/2020 00:56

What they said

I can slag my family off but DP can't! And vice versa.

It's THE RULES

DramaAlpaca · 13/11/2020 01:15

Yep. Them's the rules.

I know DH can't stand my parents but he's far too polite to say so.

DSIL can't stand them either, but she doesn't keep her mouth shut and oh my, it does cause tension.

IhateBoswell · 13/11/2020 01:18

What they all said. I can slag mine off, no one else can 👊🏻

IhateBoswell · 13/11/2020 01:19

And Happy Birthday 🥳

Wingedharpy · 13/11/2020 01:26

Slagging off family while swigging wine is a dangerous mix😉

Happy birthday.

ThanksMateThanksMate · 13/11/2020 01:27

You're all quite right.
It's a bugger though, eh?
If I had my best pal around, that would do it but we're stuck with each other these days so how are we all managing these conversations?
If you all met his DS2 you'd understand!
