for phoning to query a 0.15p unauthorised overdraft charge.

Unauthorised overdraft never should have been charged so got that sorted eventually but the woman I spoke to constantly made laughing reference to the fact that I had probably paid more on the phonecall to sort this out than the original charge and how it was obviously an 'honour' thing!

I tried to laugh it off but she seemed to miss the point that I had been charged something I never should have been - account is rarely used (bung savings in it occasionally) so have no idea how they thought I had gone overdrawn but was just irritated by her making me feel stupid for bothering to query it in the first place.

Thoughts please (getting more annoyed as I think about it!)

Oh yes I would be annoyed to - especially with the amount the banke would charge you for being 0.15p overdrawn.
(Where does your name come from Tully two by the way)

morningpaper · 17/10/2007 12:24

yes she was bring unreasonable

is not about the money, it's about them mis-managing your account!

rude woman

HotLove · 17/10/2007 12:24

i wouldnt have made the call but yes they are wrong

claricebeansmum · 17/10/2007 12:25

I wonder how large an amount she thinks justifys her being serious?

I would have probably asked to speak to her supervisor. Completely unprofessional.

YANBU. If they make a mistake over 0.15p they can make a bigger mistake next time.

TheDuchess · 17/10/2007 12:28

alitteone, I really hope you made a complaint about that comment. How patronising.

tullytwo · 17/10/2007 13:26

Oh good - glad it wasn't just me!

Cornsilk - my name is from a book called Tully which I loved, loved, loved when I first read it years ago - so I am tullytwo - as in number two and not the original from the book iyswim!

Write them an email or letter and explain that you are not happy and that you want a refund for the phonecall you had to make in order to sort their error out(and stamp if sending the complaint by letter)

helenhismadwife · 18/10/2007 13:34

YANBU at all I agree a letter is in order to tell them how unprofessional they are in getting your account wrong and in the way in which they dealt with your phone call, also like the idea of charging them for the call and your time to write the letter send it as an invoice, and dont forget to put VAT and interest on the bill!! I would then tell them I will take my overdraft elsewhere
