Smellies.

What an ugly word for something as nice as beauty or bath products.

Booze.

So SLOPPY sounding. BOOZE...no...no...no.

'Myself', as in 'please reply to myself'.

Noooo.

bearlyactive · 11/11/2020 07:28

Weirdly, "meal". I have no idea why. I say it myself sometimes, but I hate it!

ShebaShimmyShake · 11/11/2020 07:31

"Had our ups and downs". I know it's at least partly because on here it's always used to describe an absolute disaster of a relationship, but it goes beyond that. I just irrationally hate the phrase and I don't know why.

I know lots of people hate "ducks in a row" but I don't mind it. I like ducks.

LG101 · 11/11/2020 07:33

Moist 🤢

madnessitellyou · 11/11/2020 07:33

bearlyactive same here! I have no idea why.

AhFiddledeedee · 11/11/2020 07:34

Moist
Hubby
Bae

QueenArnica · 11/11/2020 07:35

Moist and bosom. Horrendous if in the same sentence Angry

cologne4711 · 11/11/2020 07:35

As a pp said "myself" when they mean I or me.

excited "for" something when they mean excited about, or looking forward to it

"these bad boys" in the context of "I bought these bad boys today" (person had bought trainers - why are they bad, aren't they good?)

any cringey hashtags eg #blessed #holibobs #famalam or #makingmemories

a "cheeky" wine (or anything) - why is it cheeky?

"gifting", you gift land, you give everything else

FlatulentSproutEater · 11/11/2020 07:36

'Muggins here'

'Rumpy pumpy'

'Gusset'

FortunesFave · 11/11/2020 07:36

Bearly Oh God yes! It's just gross!

IamNotInterested what about "Hence"? Almost always used incorrectly.

Just posted on another thread about the phrase “Boy Mamma” worn as a slogan on a t-shirt.

It’s a no from me.

rainbowbritesgreenfriend · 11/11/2020 07:37

Bubble - used as a verb in the context of the pandemic. Eg “I’m upset my DM is bubbling with my DSis instead of me.” I don’t mind “My DM has formed a bubble with my DSis.”

FortunesFave · 11/11/2020 07:37

Sprout you seem to hate U words! What about "Grumble" I have never liked that one.

OP posts:
FortunesFave · 11/11/2020 07:38

Rainbow Ugh! I agree!

Lobsterquadrille2 · 11/11/2020 07:38

Hubby
Slacks
"This one"
Fact (at the end of a sentence which expresses an opinion).
All incorrectly used pronouns.
Ditto apostrophes especially to pluralise names.

FortunesFave · 11/11/2020 07:39

Talking of MN phrases what about "Give your head a wobble"?? Wtf does that even mean!?

OP posts:
Janaih · 11/11/2020 07:39

I hate that a lot of people have an aversion to the word moist. I can only think it's because its associated with vagina? Moist is an excellent word.

burritofan · 11/11/2020 07:40

Agree, “meal” is horrendous. Along with “mains” and “sides”. Awful, cut your tongue out.

FortunesFave · 11/11/2020 07:41

Janaih me too! Why I hate it I'm not sure...it might be because there was a sudden rash of people saying they hated it...and I felt that some were copying others. Not a pedant or judgmental honestly! Grin

flaviaritt · 11/11/2020 07:41

“Scoff” as in “scoff a pizza”

“Feed” as in “a feed”

“Shop” as in “do a shop”

FortunesFave · 11/11/2020 07:41

Not on this thread but generally....a few years ago it was always cropping up online...how people hated "moist" but maybe it is a gross word....

OP posts:
flaviaritt · 11/11/2020 07:42

“sides” is bad. I agree.

FortunesFave · 11/11/2020 07:42

Oooh what about "brew" when people mean "a cup of tea"??

OP posts:
FortunesFave · 11/11/2020 07:42

Burrito oh yes! "What did you have for mains?"

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

OP posts:
flaviaritt · 11/11/2020 07:43

Oh god “brew”. There was a thread a while ago where the poster wrote “make a brew” every third sentence for about a page and a half. It was awful.
