Smellies.

What an ugly word for something as nice as beauty or bath products.

Booze.

So SLOPPY sounding. BOOZE...no...no...no.

A perfectly intelligent , otherwise lovely person I know routinely writes on social media about 'anyhoo' , 'tehe ' and her 'luvly hubs'. Gives me the absolute bowk.

Nom nom nom / yummy
He/she send me texties
Turned round and said / so I says, so she says

As I've said before , any form of passive aggression - particularly on here , where posters pretend to not know what someone means due to the spelling or grammar. Drives me bonkers.

squirrelpumpkin · 11/11/2020 08:13

A phrase that annoys me is when people begin sentences with “To be honest...”

tsmainsqueeze · 11/11/2020 08:13

chrimbo

landoflostcontent · 11/11/2020 08:15

Quite a few of the above! But just recently I have become quite irrationally annoyed by the word "important" Every news programme, local bulletin, newspaper or social media is stressing that something is "important" I feel it is devaluing "important" topics...

Nina9406 · 11/11/2020 08:16

Taking the piss

Come down like a tonne of bricks

Like as a filler word

Give your head a wobble

Bosom

Misus

And for some reason cheeky nandos

Glitterblue · 11/11/2020 08:16

@rainbowbritesgreenfriend

Bubble - used as a verb in the context of the pandemic. Eg “I’m upset my DM is bubbling with my DSis instead of me.” I don’t mind “My DM has formed a bubble with my DSis.”
Yes!!! I can't stand "bubbling up with/bubbling with" and so many people are using it all over the place. I don't know where is started being used as a verb, but it's awful. Like you, I don't mind it being used as a noun.

I also don't like meal.

FamilyOfAliens · 11/11/2020 08:18

“Changing his/her bum”.

No, you’re changing its nappy.

waterlego · 11/11/2020 08:19

Grab.

‘Grab a coffee’. No, just get one.

RichPetunia · 11/11/2020 08:19

Guesstimate.
Ask, as in “what’s the ask?” seems to have replaced request. Don’t know why.

allthewaterinthetap · 11/11/2020 08:19

'Face Covering'. Makes me think of someone peeling off their skin. I might be weird...

Valmur · 11/11/2020 08:20

I couldn’t agree more about using “myself” to mean me. I also get irrationally irritated by people misusing ‘pacific’ and ‘poignant’.

Lostinthevillair · 11/11/2020 08:20

Had nothing against this particular word before March.

Unprecedented, which I will now always associate with coronavirus. I suppose nothing has ever been as unprecedented in my lifetime Halloween Grin

BaitandSwitch · 11/11/2020 08:20

Buddies. Don't know why but I cannot stand that word.

Pebbledashery · 11/11/2020 08:20

Squelch shudders

FuzzyPuffling · 11/11/2020 08:22

I'm in the " pudding is correct " camp. Dessert refers to fruit etc.
I also hate patio and lounge.

Glitterblue · 11/11/2020 08:24

Oh and I hate the following:

Turned around and said
Rock up, as in "she rocked up 5 minutes late"
Fair enough
Chrimbo

I'm sure others will come to mind after I have posted this!

FuzzyPuffling · 11/11/2020 08:25

"Can I get...?" It's"may I have...?"

Susiesue61 · 11/11/2020 08:26

Moist
Meal
Both of which make me feel queasy 🤢

GodolphinHorne · 11/11/2020 08:26

@FuzzyPuffling

I'm in the " pudding is correct " camp. Dessert refers to fruit etc. I also hate patio and lounge.
And toilet and pardon? Settee and serviette? Grin

I was brought up to despise all these words, and many others. I am trying hard not to be so snobbish... but I still hate them!

Glitterblue · 11/11/2020 08:26

@waterlego

Grab.

‘Grab a coffee’. No, just get one.

Yes! I actually don't like "grab" in general. "I went to Tesco to grab some milk" etc. It just sounds as if everyone is going around rudely snatching things 😂
happymummy12345 · 11/11/2020 08:27

Don't know if it's been said already but we're pregnant. No only one of you is pregnant. We're having a baby isn't so bad, but can't stand we're pregnant

waterlego · 11/11/2020 08:27

Glitter Yes, exactly!

Barton10 · 11/11/2020 08:29

Choc or hot choc just put chocolate!!! Drives me mad

FlappyFish · 11/11/2020 08:29

I’m the same with meal.

“Shall we meet up for a meal?”

I’ve hated it for years and just always reply, “dinner sounds great. When?”

cafenoirbiscuit · 11/11/2020 08:30

‘Chowing down’ - eating 😡
‘Rocking’ - wearing clothes 😡
‘Off of’ - 😡😡😡😡

They give me the rage !
