Smellies.

What an ugly word for something as nice as beauty or bath products.

Booze.

So SLOPPY sounding. BOOZE...no...no...no.

“On a night” Envy

Janaih · 11/11/2020 07:45

@FortunesFave I vaguely remember a comedian doing a routine about it being a questionable word.

Picky bits anyone? Grin

LongPauseNoAnswer · 11/11/2020 07:46

@FortunesFave

Talking of MN phrases what about "Give your head a wobble"?? Wtf does that even mean!?
I was coming on to say this.
Lalastepmum · 11/11/2020 07:47

I hate the word munch- let’s go get some munch

And nom nom - to indicate eating.

Both I hate

Minky37 · 11/11/2020 07:48

Holibobs makes me shudder.

Brew is correct if it’s in the context of ‘brewing tea’ isn’t it though (if that’s what you meant)?

JorisBonson · 11/11/2020 07:49

Titties 🤮

wewillmeetagain · 11/11/2020 07:50

Bae.........makes me cringe!

BullshitVivienne · 11/11/2020 07:50

I hate brew as well, and also pack up. I know it's probably regional terms but it's a packed lunch!

I also hate 'simples' and think anyone who uses it in 2020 should lose internet privileges.

yellowmaoampinball · 11/11/2020 07:50

Outwith

Monies

And yes 'on a night/on a morning'

Totally unreasonable of me I know!

Folk

flaviaritt · 11/11/2020 07:52

You “brew” tea, but it’s a verb, not a noun!

Shesingsshangrila · 11/11/2020 07:54

Panties
No brainer
Mask as a verb (I masked before going in to the shop)

angieloumc · 11/11/2020 07:55

Some of the words I hate; hubster (isn't it just as easy to say husband?), afters or dessert (no it's pudding, to me anyway), nom nom (makes me feel sick), hols, joli one or jollies (can't you just say holiday?).

angieloumc · 11/11/2020 07:57

Three more; gifted (as in 'I gifted her it'), invite ('where's my invite?', it's where's my invitation you fool') and 'boobed' as in breastfeeding.

Frouby · 11/11/2020 07:57

I like moist, reminds me of chocolate cake.

Hate tits/titties though, it's awful.

I don't like noun. Sounds so whiney and nasal.

MarthasGinYard · 11/11/2020 07:58

'I'm pissed at'

Hate it. Be pissed of if you so fancy but not the above.

Out for a meal

Reminds me of bowls of dog meal

Batch cook

Why don't you batch cook? Answer to everything.

Bat shit crazy

I know it's a MN staple but I cannot abide this bandwagon phrase.

MarthasGinYard · 11/11/2020 07:59

Also 'anyhoo'

Forgot that little gem

AuntPeggy · 11/11/2020 07:59

Panties (shudder), kids, 'our little family' (a phrase I know!) #blessed, 'needs gone' (just no!).

yellowmaoampinball · 11/11/2020 08:01

Little or littlies for kids

trappedsincesundaymorn · 11/11/2020 08:03

Famalam...it takes longer to say that than it does to say "family"
doggo
holibobs
basically, when used to fill a sentence. I have a friend who actually said to me that she was "basically going out to buy some food because I basically have nothing in".

FuzzyPuffling · 11/11/2020 08:05

"So" at the beginning of every sentence.

TheTrashBagIsOursCmonTrashBag · 11/11/2020 08:07

Nooky. My mum used that word a lot giving her kids the sex talk. I guess the sex/nooky talk worked- it put me off the idea of it for ages so no teenage pregnancy or worries about STDs.

Preggers/preggy. I first discovered “preggy” in an OK! interview with Peter Andre and Katie price and PA kept banging on about KP “preggy belly”. Hated that word and that man ever since.

Weirdly I don’t like the word meal either and don’t know why.

LongPauseNoAnswer · 11/11/2020 08:09

afters or dessert (no it's pudding, to me anyway)

I HATE the term pudding with the fire of a billion suns. Pudding is a type of dessert, dessert is the correct term.

And if you’re Irish, pudding isn’t something you eat for dessert unless it’s specifically indicated to be a dessert food - chocolate pudding for example.

sapnupuas · 11/11/2020 08:11

Belly.
Buggy.

sapnupuas · 11/11/2020 08:12

"Waiting on"

Ugh. Just stop.
