Hi Im posting here for traffic. I recently became a care assistant in a home very close to mine and been there 6 weeks. Before this I got offered a care roll with working with special needs adults which is closer to my heart due to a disabled daughter of my own. I've settled into my new job but not enjoying working there specially with the elderly.
Pros are it's close to home and no travel costs
Settled into new role and praised from managers

Cons
Other job would be further to travel and have expenses eg travel costs
Shorter hours
More pay

Help I'm stuck aibu toeave the job closer to home.
YANBU to go to the job I have more in common with

Reason I didn't take the job working with special needs adults as I had to wait for a full enhanced dbs check which has just been completed. Other job did a dbs to but I had a adult first check so started straight away.

More pay per hour, or more pay overall?

I wouldn’t care about travelling further if I still ended up with more money over shorter hours - and for the job I preferred!

Assuming the second job isn’t a dreadful commute it seems like a no brainer. Accept the new job and work your notice with grace. Expect your current employer to be a bit fed up, they’ve invested in recruiting and training you for no return but that’s the reality of some industries.

Tbh I think you need to make this decision by yourself .
Only you know how much you are not enjoying your current job , or the impact of extra travelling the other one would bring.
Factor in your job satisfaction / further career opportunities as well.
Congratulations on having the choice of two jobs .

Care work involved a lot of yourself, a lot of it comes from the heart. It's better to be in an area that touches your values. Because everyone knows the pay won't drag you away from pressures in your own life.
