Where would you choose to rent as a young couple? Which areas would you not choose?

Where I would rent - West Bridgford, Beeston, Chilwell, The Park, Carlton.

Where I wouldn't rent - Radford, Hyson Green, The Meadows, Sneinton, Lenton.

Wollaton, Wilford, Mapperley, Sherwood ok too.

Strelley, St Ann's, Forest Fields - avoid.

Long Eaton is ok too, cheaper, but nice enough, though strictly speaking is considered to be in Derbyshire by many...

Places I'd rent - Beeston, West Bridgford, Wollaton, Chilwell, Bramcote, Toton, Attenborough.

Avoid at all costs - St Anns, Meadows, Forest Fields, Hyson Green, Sneinton, Clifton, Netherfield, Bestwood, Top Valley.

Oh forgot Attenborough. Small but lovely.

I think Sherwood, Mapperley or potentially West Bridgford for a young couple. Sherwood is my favourite, it has a nice community feels, lots going on and is a bit bohemian. West Bridgford is a bit more pricy and very yummy mummy, some people like that but others are not so keen.

There's also lots of other areas that are pleasant enough to live in, but are maybe a bit dreary. Like Wollaton, Long Eaton,Wilford, Arnold, Carlton.

Personally I live in one of the places that people have said to avoid, but I love it for it's accessibility to the centre, transport links, diversity and Asian supermarkets. Plus the fact you get a lot more house for your money. We've never had any problems either.

It depends what you are looking for. For example Sneinton is a mixture between hipsters and multi ethnic inner city community. It isn't the quietest place or the most crime free, but some people love it.

I'm just thinking of places close to the city...Sherwood, Mapperley, Ladybay & West bridgeford are all nice areas.
I would definitely avoid St anns, Lenton, Meadows and Forest Fields.

I agree with everything NuttyinNotts said. I lived on the border of Forest Fields and Hyson Green and loved it as a 'young couple' and when my dc were little too. I would definitely look at Sneinton.

A lot also depends on budget - some of the place mentioned are very expensive for the East Midlands.

The thought of a young couple getting excited about living in Chilwell or Long Eaton, well Grin....

I lived in both of those places, plus St Ann's, Meadows and W Bridgford both as a student and then in young couple and had a blast in all of them tbh

Nottingham is not particularly spread out in comparison to many other cities. Doesn't take long to get from one place to the other or into the city etc.
