Yes I know they are fantasy.
And yes I have no problem with movies about aliens, superheroes, dystopias or fantastically good looking people. Or musicals. There's absolutely nothing the matter with people suddenly bursting into song and have a mass tap dance with 200 strangers in Times Square.
What I don't like is movies where something happens and there's no back story or explanation. Granted this is a bit too common in the alien creature movies.... So take Birdsong starring Sandra Bullock. Suddenly people start killing themselves because they see something absolutely horrendous. But some people don't. Why and where did the "horrendous" come from?" And then there's a number of movies with creatures with ultra sensitive hearing. Where did they come from, how can they wipe out everything so quickly? How can people survive if they can't make any noise? What if you snore? Or a cow moos?
Am I the only one that has this problem? What's the one that bugs you the most?
(& don't get me started about romcoms - I mean Notting Hill? And even worse Love Actually? Can a 10 year old really learn to play the drums in just 6 weeks? And his step dad happily find a new love so quickly after his wife dies? (ok yes I guess it happens))
