DD is 6 her last birthday was cancelled due to having sepsis, she was in hospital nearly 3 months then straight in to shielding. Her birthday will most likely land in a time where we are still very much restricted so planning a nice home birthday.
Would anyone share what they did to make it special, she missed out her last birthday I really want to make sure this birthday at home can be exciting for her.
Thank you in advance.

Dd2’s birthday was in June so the weather was nice but I laid the table with a nice tablecloth and had lovely crockery out and bunting everywhere and made it all look lovely. We had a barbecue, you could do something like that but indoors?

Gosh, what an awful time you must have had, App. I'm so sorry to hear of your daughter's hospitalisation. I hope she is all recovered.

For her birthday, I would go all out with decorations, presents and fun food! I'd make sure that there are some streamers and balloons up in your lounge and a table full of nice party good. A cake that she'd love and then I'd splash out a little extra on a really big present if you can afford to. If you can and it's not too much trouble, I'd also organise a Zoom call for all her family to wish your DD a happy birthday at the same time and they can sing to her.

Good luck, OP!

Aww bless her Sad it's rubbish for kids at the moment.

My DS will be 7 at the end of November so I am also planning a lockdown birthday.

Banners and balloons (if she likes balloons).

Can you get her a special cake? Either made (if you're a better baker than I am!) or ordered from somewhere- maybe try independent cake shops nearby. Something with her favourite characters or whatever she likes.

Birthday plates/cups/tablecloths - even for the adults.

Can she choose what to have for food. Could be traditional party food or her favourite food or a takeaway she likes.

So far, I've enquired about having a minecraft cake made that's what DS asked for but I can't bake to save my life so I am hoping a local bakery come to my rescueBlush Planning to get some banners and a birthday table cloth (no balloons as DS hates them). DS is deciding on tea - his birthday is a Fri so he will see his friends at school during the day and then tea of his choice at home.

*OP, not App!

Does she like any particular characters etc? I bet at the moment you could get a kid's performer to record her a personalised birthday greeting or even zoom call for not too much money e.g. a princess, mermaid, Disney character or whatever she's into - that could be quite special.

We had a birthday during the first lockdown, but restrictions were being eased by then. I ordered cupcakes to be made with DCs favourite character and we made up a party bag for each of his friends (think there were 6). I drove round and he dropped it off in their gardens and got to have a chat with each one then we came home and had a party ourselves with usual party food and games. It was good fun, actually!

6 is the perfect age for home parties. Decorations, party tea, and party games are all you need. How many of you are there at home, so you can plan games?

Wrap her doorframe up so when she wakes up it's like a present and she has to break through it - or hang happy birthday banners across to break through.

Birthday pancakes (with a candle, preferably a relighting one)

Birthday lunch including jelly

Party games

Dance party in the kitchen

Film and popcorn

Funky bath with bath bomb

I hope you have a great time!
