DH is a technophobe

DH is 66 and a technophobe. He hates mobile phones. He has an ipad and is ok with that, I set it up for him and sort it out if it plays up. I have colleagues in their 70s who are great with technology and think it is a bit weird for him to be like this. He took early retirement a few years ago as he had cancer. He used computers in his office but didn't like it then either! I find it a bit annoying that he is useless with tech but AIBU?! Love him anyway, btw

I think it's laziness and yanbu. My DH is 71 and worked in computers his whole career. He can fix any computer problem for us or the adult DC but can't cope with a mobile phone. I reckon he just can't be bothered to invest a bit of time learning and it annoys me.

For some people ots easier to learn to use tech. He is who he is

I am a tchniphobe too. I will use it but I am rubbish with technology.

WhereverIGoddamnLike · 08/11/2020 21:23

Um... why does it matter? Does he need to be great at tech to make your marriage work?
As long as he can work a brick phone so you can call him when needed then what else is it you need him to do?

What is your AIBU?

MeringueCloud · 08/11/2020 21:25

Why does it matter? Just because mobiles exist doesn't mean we all have to use them. He's probably happy with his landline and iPad.

What difference does it make to your life?

If he's okay with an iPad, and he finds he needs a mobile, then an iPhone is barely any different apart from the size (but get one with the matching home-button or no-home-button age/style, obviously).
