Daughter is in year 2 she missed most of year 1 due to ill health and then Covid and was behind. She is now off school again due to covid.
She does know her phonics sounds but she can not read at all independently or write independently ( apart from her name etc ) but wouldn’t be able to write a sentence.
I am trying but also being her full time carer and the fact that she doesn’t engage with me well.
She does do better at maths and although behind I don’t think that far behind.
Is it possible to catch up with reading and writing ?
It’s not my main worry, her health will always come first which is why she is at home during covid but I am worried how this will now effect her future.
Did anyone have children who struggles to read and write at nearly 7 and caught up ?

Can the school give you work packs that she can do for 15 minutes at a time. If you persevere with her and have a timer so she knows how long she has to work before doing whatever else, it might settle her into a routine
