40 degree wash is stringing everything

I wash all our stuff on a one hour 40
Degree program, and it all shrinks. Washing machine was new this year. Mostly I buy cotton stuff for the kids, maybe not the most expensive brands, but my posh organic cotton tops have all shrunk and feel so tight too. Maybe wearing and washing too much? We don't have a tumble drier, so either line dry or I have a big airing cupboard with hangers and rail. I haven't put on weight. Going to have to try to wash at 30 now 🤔

Was your washing machine connected correctly?

I once had a muppet plumber who connected my washing machine to the hot water Hmm , water temp was 65C so everything shrunk then machine broke

My previous machine had a one hour 40C programme which was for hardwearing fabrics such as work trousers, so maybe check your manual to make sure the programme is suitable for the t-shirts you're washing. It does sound like it may be a fault, though. The thermostat that regulates the water temperature may not be working properly.
