Social media storage

Following on from a thread I was reading - where do people store their photos, children's milestones etc if you don't use social media?

I'm genuinely interested as I've been considering more & more about deleting my SM accounts but I document so much of my child's nursery adventures, day trips, memories, milestones, photos on there for my own sake to be able to have it all in one place to look back on. If I had another place to store these to look back on then I'd freely delete FB / Insta etc.

Any suggestions are welcome.

Just on your phone? iCloud backup or the like.

On a memory card, hard drive, printed off in an album (!), write things down in a nice notebook/baby book.

I hear ya, but for me it's not just the photos I like looking back on.

I've been on FB 13+ years and love the "On This Day" feature. It's not just the photos and videos but the captions and comments. I'd never think to look back on a day from 2008, and if I deleted my account I'd lose all the comments that help jog my memory.

I think you can download everything from FB. But an external hard drive is a good idea.
