I do think this is a really important observation and one I've thought should be talked about a bit more.

Again its a reflection of how the media reflects the world view of the coast and there isn't representation of small town america. Where you do see it its often derogatory and patronising.

I don't see this changing either unfortunately too and its a big issue that does need to be better addressed.

Its about how how some communities aren't getting a proper voice on equal terms.

(Also see the North / South divide in the Uk or the City / Provincial Town divide - which is being replicated not just in the UK but throughout Europe and in turn differences in their voting patterns).

Is Brexit dead now so? I don't think so, but the masterminds might need a bit of a wake up call now that there has been a regime change. God love them having to deal with an educated, erudite gentleman in relation to a UK/US trade deal.

It's hard to have footage of people staying inside. There has been lots of footage of protests in Phoenix over the past few days. And there have been several big articles out already today about reactions from Republican voters, including a front-page story in the New York Times.

Although my DS1 just texted me that according to a reporter friend of his there have been some scuffles between Biden and Trump supporters at our state capitol. I admit I'm a bit worried about what may happen after it gets dark (it's late afternoon where I am). Not just here, but all across the country.

Of course, they stay inside because Trump losing doesn't actually affect them that much. Do they have worries like being able to afford healthcare? No most of them are able bodied and healthy with money. So why do they need to March when they know they are ok
I mean look at Poland , women marching over abortion but not many men worry about that sort of thing

I think there are a lot of people who care deeply about Trump losing. But if it's anything like 2016, there will be relatively little immediate, spontaneous protest by the side who losesit's quite a broadside when you don't expect it. I imagine there will be a lot of protest in the next few months, a la the Tea Party movement under Obama. I just mean that I wouldn't take footage of the celebrations particularly to heartit's what's out there, literally, tonight.

I hope there is no violence, It all seems happy enough for now but CNN has reported concerns about groups of Trump supporters clashing with the Biden supporters in Atlanta .

And then there is Don Trump Junior inciting violence on Twitter, why they don't put a stop to him I've no idea.

But to happier things - I'm really excited about another thing, there will be First Dogs in the Whitehouse again!

Staying up here, been really interesting watching this unfold as I have learned so much about American politics. Last time I was so invested was in ‘08 this is on the same level as then for me with more detail about the politics of it. If that makes sense?

@Peridot2020 its not just a North south divide, its a rural/urban divide. I live close ish to London, more or less commutable, easily done in a day, and lots of people of all ages i know have never been there or if the have, just the once.

I'll tell you another thing that's making me so happy. It's seeing so many Biden supporters 'taking back the flag'. It's 'belonged' to the MAGA crowd for nigh on 5 years. Now it's back where it belongs, with people who truly believe in the real 'American Way'.
