They’ve only been and gone and done it.

Yes! I wonder how he will pay for them though. They cost millions. I know he's sending out increasingly strong emails to his followers to fund the legal shenanigans and to clear campaign debt, but this is a whole other ballgame isn't it...

He really does think that if he doesn’t concede then he hasn’t lost.
^^ This. Yes.

I blame those who enable him.

Anyone else seen updates on the van which was arrested in Philadelphia full of fraudulent ballots?

I'll give you one guess who they were for...

It would be absolutely hilarious if his whinging and shouting about cheating actually exposed his own campaign's (shit) attempts to cheat.

The more alarming bit is the report of the survey saying half of trump voters believe this qanon pish.

AntsInPenzance · 09/11/2020 09:04

Trump conceding or not makes no legal difference to what happens next. It's just a public acknowledgement from the President that he's lost.

lyralalala · 09/11/2020 09:06
www.forbes.com/sites/tommybeer/2020/11/07/report-armed-qanon-supporter-drove-to-philadelphia-to-deliver-truck-full-of-fake-votes/
At an arraignment Friday night, prosecutors said that text messages reveal two Virginia men, who were arrested Thursday, drove to Philadelphia to "deliver a truck full” of fake ballots because they were concerned about ballot-counting taking place at the Pennsylvania Convention Center

This makes it sound like a last minute decision based on their concerns. As if people just happened to have a truck full of ballots handy just in case, rather than a pre-planned thing.

It's a bit like they're trying to say "Well, we weren't going to cheat, but we just had a truck full of ballots in case the other side cheated so we could balance it up"

StatisticallyChallenged · 09/11/2020 09:12

Trumpet not conceding does seem to be having some impact - one of his appointees is refusing to sign off on allowing the Biden team to formally begin work on transition. Apparently that sign off gives both funding and access to officials...

BruceAndNosh · 09/11/2020 09:15

I've always wondered about the assertion by Trump that he would definitely win in 2020. So maybe he was sure as his team had arranged wide scale cheating and he's blind sided that the other side "was better at cheating"

RedToothBrush · 09/11/2020 09:25
So Trump, encouraged by Guiliani, Kushner and others, is planning on the road rallies to prove to everyone he wuz robbed. He will read out a list of dead people who have voted, and push the message

'The goal of the messaging blitz is to raise enough doubt about the results that secretaries of state in battlegrounds feel pressure to open investigations or call on their own for recounts -- something that would prolong the process and potentially give the campaign more time to advance its litigation through the courts'

Thats starting to stray into Article 3 section 3 territory.

Especially after 14th December and even more so after 6th January.

So i do wonder what the timetable for this will be.

I also wonder what sort of turnout it will get. We know his election rallies won't be well attended.

I think there is a side benefit to this though. If Trump is trying to start Trump Terrorism he could do that equally well via twitter.

Having rallies and lists of people who have bought tickets (cos it sure as hell won't be free to attend), you give the FBI a nice list of names and bank accounts to be monitiring...

Lweji · 09/11/2020 09:53

To be fair to the official, I'd wait for official results to come out of the states before signing off anything.
This IS one case where the media doesn't call off the result.

Meanwhile, Romney really wants a job. Wink

I wouldn't put it past trump to have got his people to do some dodgy stuff on the biden side, just to discredit them.

He has been claiming it is rigged for far too long imho

Roussette · 09/11/2020 10:02

Well... depressingly they have now have their own QAnon supporter voted into the House.

www.theguardian.com/us-news/2020/nov/03/qanon-marjorie-taylor-greene-wins-congress

The future congresswoman has faced national scrutiny for racist and bigoted statements and her support of QAnon, a baseless conspiracy theory rooted in antisemitic tropes whose followers believe Donald Trump is secretly fighting against a cabal of Democrats, billionaires and celebrities engaged in child trafficking. The FBI has identified the movement as a potential domestic terrorism threat, and it has repeatedly inspired vigilante violence

That's been my thought. Do dodgy stuff and use it to influence Biden's vote by voting Democrat.

I am very cynical about what people might do to influence an election - and dodgy voting for the other side so you can claim fraud by the other side is something someone could do.

It is alarming, but maybe some of them actually dislike him and are only putting up with him because they believe this nonsense. Sometimes I read FB comments to glean some kind of understanding about how people think, and one stood out to me from a woman who said she doesn't like him either but she was voting for him because the work he was doing was all part of God's plan. Mind you, it was only one comment so I'm probably clutching at straws. There are also the people mentioned by a PP who are fairly horrified but are even more terrified of socialism. Though maybe these people are Trump voters rather than Trump supporters. And I wonder if it makes a difference anyway.

It does seem to be unusual for it to be withheld for that long - lots of the states have processes which mean every vote isn't counted for a while. Article I saw said the only time it has been delayed before was 2000 when the results was genuinely unclear due to Florida

Lweji · 09/11/2020 10:55

Considering the current circumstances, I think even Biden will agree they better wait for the funding.
It's important than ever to keep things as straight and legal as possible, and not give Trump any ammunition.

Roussette · 09/11/2020 10:56

I remember the press were pushing Hillary to concede and she did shortly after 9 media outlets called it for Trump. There was no gap like this.

PerkingFaintly · 09/11/2020 10:57

Good morning, good morning!

Should have posted this yesterday or the day before: no more staying up the whole night through now, I hope.

But never mind! These grins are still how I feel!

Lweji · 09/11/2020 10:58

Also, it looks like it's Trump who needs funding. Bigly.

(Also, I'll be happy when I don't have to teach my spellchecker stupid Trump words)

Yes, maybe sleep patterns the world over will reset now.

I really hope so - I only managed 3 hours last night for the 6th day in a row and feel like death warmed up.

Cognitive dissonance. I bet Trump doesn't remember that.

Shame that Jill will keep her job. She could go for Education Secretary. Wink

Thanks for that clip Perking! I have unrelentingly annoyed my family over the years by doing my (terrible) Debbie Reynolds impression when I want them to get up! Grin
