There's nothing wrong with wearing an apron in the loo

If I need to go to the loo while I'm cooking, I leave my apron on. Dh thinks this is rank. He thinks I should take it off first.

Dh doesn't wear an apron while cooking, so if he went to the loo while he was cooking, then he, too, would be wearing the same things in the loo and in the kitchen. He says it's "different ".

Who is BU?

For every person saying it's gross:

Do you think it's equally as gross if someone doesn't wear an apron , goes to the loo but doesn't strip off naked/changes their clothes after? If not, why not?

Apron off here.....

Ohtherewearethen · 07/11/2020 21:27

If you saw the chef at the restaurant you are eating at, or the butcher or whoever is handling your food, wearing an apron in the toilet would you be perfectly happy with that or would you think, eurgh, that's a bit gross?

How is an aspirin different to normal clothes?

Your not likely to wipe dirty, sticky or wet hands on your clothes, your are on an apron though.

I've worked in hospitality for years now. I've always been asked to remove my apron before using the loo so it probably carries over.

If you’re anal enough to wear an apron you should be anal enough to remove it before using the loo.

OK - another scenario.

You are in the kitchen cooking and you need to pee.

You decide to take off your apron because it would be grim/vile/disgusting/insert insult of choice to use the bathroom and then go back into the kitchen with your apron on*.

*other opinions are available.

The imaginary germs which would have jumped onto your apron jump onto your clothes instead - because they aren't evolved enough to know the difference.

You finish your wee, wash and dry hands and leave the bathroom.
A very lively toddler is lying in wait outside the bathroom door and shrieks "Mummy - cuddles" with outstretched arms.

How many of you say "no, get away from me, I am teeming with filth"?

@Dilbertian

But how is it any different to going to the loo in your own clothes? If you were cooking, and not wearing an apron, and you needed to go to the loo, would you undress completely? Or change your clothes before returning to the kitchen?

If not, then surely keeping the apron on is more hygienic, as I can wipe it down.

This is not in a commercial setting, of course. I would hope, anyway, that someone working in a commercial kitchen would not have their own clothes as the outermost later at any time while in the kitchen.

It is different because you would be more likely to be wiping your hands on an apron than your jeans.

It's a plastic apron. I cannot wipe my hands on it. It, though, can be wiped down and regularly is.
