To give up on work now

Been at current work place for 25 years. Had 2 promotions in that time, last one about 10 years ago. Always wanted to achieve the next level. Its not happened, there are always reason why eg I applied for promotion 6 months ago, had good interview. Told it was close but other person got it coz they had been doing the work, fair play. Told I would be wanted for another role on promotion but typically that has yet to materialise - if it ever will. People getting promoted above me who are useless but in the right place at the right time type of thing.
I think I'm.done. done trying, done caring and I now just want to do my job and leave for the day. There is nothing left to give
Feel like others have been given opportunities but I've been passed over every time

It depends how you would manage financially. I think sometimes companies like fresh blood. They don't always want most experienced/person who has been there ages.

If you can get promoted elsewhere then I would start looking. However we are in uncertain times and if this job is safe & you can do it without too much stress then I would sit tight.

Start looking for oportubities outside. Moving company every 3-5years has suited me well both financially and in terms of promotions. Best foot forward- always barter for more money when you receive an offer too!
