DH and I bought a beautiful old cottage 1.5yrs ago, have been blissfully happy since we moved in. Everyone comments on what a lovely place it is, we love rurally, in a gorgeous AONB.

Now to get the point. I am the least woo person you will meet, but even I was a bit WTF when DH made his first trip up in the loft and then came back and showed me this.. taken from an old door stored up there. Do let me have your thoughts, woo and non woo!

Fuck this fucking house

I really wish there was some creepy backstory to your house; you'd heard footsteps at night and voices but no one there.
However I am obsessed with horror and anything spooky so I'm inclined to think that way Grin

However it was probably someone very disgruntled...perhaps the previous occupant tried and failed and tried and failed again to hang that door? So thought they'd leave a colourful note on there for the next occupant!

@willowmelangell you must go up there! There might be some hidden treasure or an unknown Van Gogh painting worth a fortune...you never know

Can't imagine at all what it is about that that makes you think it's woo!

"Fuck this fucking house" is probably one of the non-wooest things you could find in a house. It's so...humanWink

We found a swastika painted in gloss underneath the wallpaper. I think it was the previous owner’s teenage trying to be shocking during his teenage years. Our loft is also pretty big and you can walk around up there, which her kids obviously did as teens in the nineties. The chimney breast is painted pink and has the word ‘rave’ written on it, kind of graffiti art style with zig zag borders in different colours. And we found what looks like spliff ends on the floor.

This has just reminded me of when I was about 12 and helping my mum tile the bathroom in our old farmhouse. I was a bit of a strange child and while my mum wasn’t looking decided to write on the plaster things like “I died here” “watch out for the sounds at night” and other strange things before grouting a tile on to the wall hmm I wonder if any owners since have taken the tiles off, if they did they’d probably be thinking wtf confused

@sevo7 I love this!

Your first thought was a ghost? Huh?

Hollyhocksarenotmessy · 07/11/2020 10:05

If it appeared overnight in blood on the kitchen wall, woo.

On an old door in storage, written in Sharpie, non-woo.
