DH and I bought a beautiful old cottage 1.5yrs ago, have been blissfully happy since we moved in. Everyone comments on what a lovely place it is, we love rurally, in a gorgeous AONB.

Now to get the point. I am the least woo person you will meet, but even I was a bit WTF when DH made his first trip up in the loft and then came back and showed me this.. taken from an old door stored up there. Do let me have your thoughts, woo and non woo!

Fuck this fucking house

@draughtycatflap

During an office move one time we turned over a desk and someone had written “I’ve got an itchy fanny”. 😬

@TheCanyon

I mean that nicely though, my parents bought a massive Victorian house when we were kids. I think next year's the 30th anniversary we moved into that derelict thing, it's been an absolute money pit.
The cottage we live in is anything but derelict, it’s gorgeous, structurally sound and so far, not a money pit!

Maybe you reading it wrong
Flock this flocking house.
Advise on decorating, flocked wallpaper? It was very popular in days of yore ( 1960s)

Or an invitation to birds to gather. Got any geese eyeing up the building?

Hmmm maybe it's a flowers in the attic type story that happened Hmm

Teenager...reminds me of myself... you’ll find one that’s says “ I hate you....can’t wait till I move out... can you give me a lift to Primark” soon.

VividImagination · 06/11/2020 21:50

Just someone fed up with their husband’s attempts at DIY. It’s the sort of thing I could write regularly. Like yesterday, watching dh “repair” the leaking shower cabinet with a Tesco carrier bag and parcel tape!

It's a builder or other tradesperson having a nightmare running cable or somesuch.

backinthebox · 06/11/2020 21:51

I live in a 450 year old cottage which we renovated from a semi-derelict state. I could quite easily have been tempted to write 'fuck this fucking house' on every part of it. Most notably when we discovered that the gable wall was not attached to the rest of the house and in danger of falling down, but we couldn't work on it immediately because of the bats living in it. But there have been lots of other occasions I've cursed the house. Mostly we love it though. And we've never had any woo activity, even though we live only about 200 yards away from the old village graveyard.

LaChatte · 06/11/2020 21:53

I have the exact same thing scrawled on an inaccessible part of a massive beam in DD's bedroom.

I guess I find it hard to believe that anyone could hate this house, it’s such a happy, warm place 🤷🏻‍♀️ just made me feel a bit wtf.. I still love it the same though !

Really ?! V odd isn’t it. Such a random thing to go to the bother of finding a pen and then making that statement.

Grumpy teenager. Or someone sick. Of all the bloody work an old house takes. As iknow liv9in a house built in the 1880s it's a lot!

ColdNovemberNights · 06/11/2020 21:57

Non woo

Grounded teenager maybe

FeathersOarBlades · 06/11/2020 22:00

Thanks, guys. The general consensus is non woo ... grumpy teenager. I guess this house/area may not have been much fun for a party loving adolescent!

OP posts:
LaChatte · 06/11/2020 22:00

Yeah no sorry, should have added that I wrote it in frustration while putting in said beam.

MereDintofPandiculation · 06/11/2020 22:00

When we moved into our first house, we started by decorating the living room. We removed about 20 layers of paint from the window sill, and burned into the wood thus revealed were our two initials.
