AIBU?
To ask if you use Naked Wines and what you think?
Whatisthisfuckery · 06/11/2020 20:47
I bought one of their boxes that were on offer for £25 and I’m very impressed. The wines I’ve tried so far have been very nice. I can’t comment on their whites so much as I’m more of a red drinker, but the reds I’ve tried have been lovely, even the ones that aren’t my usual choice. I’ve just had another delivery today and the bottle I’ve opened tonight is excellent. I’m going to struggle not to have another glass.
Have you tried them, and if so will you continue to use them? Also any recommendations for nice reds please.
AIBU to say they’re better than what you get in the supermarket for the same money?
I’m not a plant BTW, I’m just interested to know what other MNers think.
Am I being unreasonable?

I use it and genuinely love it. We put in £30 a month and are about to stock up for Christmas. Never had a wine I don’t like
PinkFondantFancy · 06/11/2020 20:54
I use it too, same as above, never had a disappointing wine and they're typically priced at supermarket levels
longtompot · 06/11/2020 20:57
We've just started this and have had some nice wines, but some have been a bit flat really. Especially for the price some are.
We will continue with it and will just be a bit choosier about what we, err, choose.
We're red drinkers too, esp Malbec, Rioja and Shiraz and esp from Argentina, Chile and Australia, so any suggestions for any of those would be great.
Whatisthisfuckery · 06/11/2020 21:01
I am currently drinking Christian Patat Appasimento which is lovely, but it’s out of stock, sorry. I must have bought the last one lol.
ifiwasascent · 06/11/2020 21:02
@BathshebaAndGabriel came on to say the exact same thing!
YouCantBeSadHoldingACupcake · 06/11/2020 21:04
I've used them for years, they are quite good at recommending wine they think you will like if you review ones you have already bought
Whatisthisfuckery · 06/11/2020 21:10
@fingersdoublecrossed Search it on Facebook, you can click through from an ad on there. I know you can do that because my mum found it and ordered before I’d had chance to tag her on the ads that constantly pop up on my feed.
fingersdoublecrossed · 06/11/2020 21:13
I didn't know whether it might be like other subscriptions (Hello Fresh, for example) where if you recommend, you get a discount...
Whatisthisfuckery · 06/11/2020 21:17
I don’t know, but there’s a promo on at the moment where you can get a box of 6 bottles for £24.99.
The way it works from then on is that they take a minimum of £20 each month which goes into your account and it counts against any orders you make. You can cancel at any time.
RainbowMum11 · 06/11/2020 21:17
I do! I am very happy so far, looking forward to the Christmas box!
Nikhedonia · 06/11/2020 21:52

I think that's only for new customers.
I'm a naked Angel and enjoy their wines, but I don't drink that much so don't order as often as others do.
Gotofriggingsleep · 06/11/2020 21:52
We had six bottles of white on a trial offer. Two weren't bad but the others weren't very nice at all. We aren't particularly fussy either.
SlipperyLizard · 06/11/2020 22:09
I had a mixed dozen as part of a promo, universally disappointing wines. Didn’t order again
wellingtonsandwaffles · 06/11/2020 22:18
@fingersdoublecrossed PM me your email address and I’ll send you my code for £80 off a £120 order, comes to £50ish for 12 bottles. We do it, share the code, then cancel.on repeat. Perhaps not very ethical but works for us! Works out around £4 a bottle for good quality.
DisgruntledPelican · 06/11/2020 22:32
I used to be a member, but then ended up drinking less frequently and the bottles piled up a bit, so I stopped it a couple of years back. They do some lovely wines, though, and the Xmas boxes were always a good shout. I might join again.
Gyoza · 06/11/2020 23:05
Signed up to the promo a year ago, had another case since then at beginning of lockdown after continuing to be an ‘angel’ however didn’t feel it was worth paying full price. I’ve now signed up to a subscription box from my local wine bar, much better wine and supporting a local business
Paddingtonthebear · 06/11/2020 23:08
We had a few boxes from Naked Wines and then a got a deal on a box from Laithwaites/Sunday Times Wine Club. We definitely preferred the wine we had from Naked.
Pumpkintopf · 06/11/2020 23:12
I'm a Naked Wines Angel - I love it, have only had one wine I didn't like (which they refunded immediately just on that basis, no hassle at all) and their Christmas case is fabulous.
@Whatisthisfuckery Appassimento is my absolutely favourite, always buy a case when it's in stock!
Vodkatonic8 · 06/11/2020 23:13
I like the concept. I had £80 built up in my account and bought 12 with 3 free bonus bottles for around £107 so I had to pay another £27 which I liked. I tend to order every 3 months or so. I like the wines as they are different.
BoomBoomsCousin · 06/11/2020 23:13
I just took them up on a special offer case in the US. For what we paid (~$7/bottle) they were great. But without the intro discount they are 2 - 3 times that price and I can get just as good or better in the supermarket. Good variety, though and I like being introduced to new wines. I also got stung with a $40 monthly charge towards “angel wines” that (despite the add saying “no obligation to buy more”) I had been looking out for during the order process but must have missed. I had to ring up today to cancel it (they did cancel and refund without really quibbling though, so points for that).

@BathshebaAndGabriel
Join The Wine Society instead.
Agreed.
Wine Society are decent. I also like vintage roots.
