If you were given a shopping list with dairy milk on it what would you buy?

Would you buy the much needed treat your DW had looked forward to eating all day. Or would you, like my DH, buy 6 pints of milk assuming the "dairy" was to differentiate between different varieties of milk! First and last time DH is entrusted to do the weekly shop unsupervised!

OP posts:
Tiredmum100 · 06/11/2020 20:33

In this house dairy milk is chocolate. Dh knows this luckily. If we need milk I say "Milk".

OpEd · 06/11/2020 20:36

🤣🤣🤣🤣
Was it capitalised?

Dairy Milk and dairy milk are where you're going wrong!

notanoctopus · 06/11/2020 20:37

Chocolate but then we don't drink any non dairy milk so no room for confusion. LTB!!!

dottiedaisee · 06/11/2020 20:37

Definitely Cadbury Dairy Milk Chocolate....it’s a no brainer!!

gluteustothemaximus · 06/11/2020 20:38

Only chocolate. Milk wouldn't enter my head. At all.

WitchesBritchesPumpkinPants · 06/11/2020 20:39

@Katieweasel

The list also said "milk". I never buy any other types of milk. Just looked at what I had written and I had indeed capitalised it. Dairy Milk!
Even before you said that I'd have bought chocolate

Send the muppet back out!!

StripeyDeckchair · 06/11/2020 20:43

If you want chocolate put chocolate on the list.
Milk = white stuff that goes in tea or coffee. I thought you were going to complain he bought the wrong type of milk (blue/red/green top)

Your DH bought what he was asked to buy

Vintagegoth · 06/11/2020 20:44

Once sent my DH to the shops with a list containing the word squash. He came back with a Butternut squash. Yes, we do live in Surrey...why do you ask?

StanfordPines · 06/11/2020 20:47

My first thought was cow’s milk but we are an oat milk household so I would specify dairy milk over oat milk but I would probably say cow’s milk rather than dairy.

Smidge001 · 06/11/2020 20:48

I'm another that assumed you meant milk! And thought the question was about whether it was meant to be semi skimmed or full fat etc.

RideaCockHorseOfCourse · 06/11/2020 20:49

He is a dope, OP. Have to specify Cadburys next time, to make it foolproof!

XingMing · 06/11/2020 20:50

Can't imagine putting Cadbury's Dairy Milk on a shopping list. It's disgusting.

starfishmummy · 06/11/2020 20:51

I asked my dh. He said chocolate.

Hes a keeper!!

It's definitely not chocolate. Chocolate is full of cacao, not sugar.

Hopeisnotastrategy · 06/11/2020 20:52

@MazDazzle

Reminds me of the time I sent my husband out to buy Christmas Crackers. Grin
I thought I'd involve my busy DH a bit in the Christmas preparations by asking him to source some logs for the fire. An easily contained manly task that showed willing I thought - you know, a couple of sacks to see us through the Christmas period.

Returned from the supermarket at circa 11.00 am to find a massive lorry load of logs blocking the drive that for local logistical reasons we HAD to shift that day. To get the full horror of this story you have to understand that one of us is Continental and our main event happens on Christmas Eve.

To be fair, he has always been an excellent provider.... 🤣🤷‍♀️😱😢🎄

He has never lived it down.

RB68 · 06/11/2020 20:52

I once wrote baking pots

I got cake cases and we had to have somthing else for tea

CrocodileFondue · 06/11/2020 20:54

This reminds me of a weird group therapy thing I was once forced to do where we had to sing "milk milk milk milk, milk milk.." to the tune of Happy Birthday.
No idea why but very odd. Confused

SantanaBinLorry · 06/11/2020 20:54

@RedskyAtnight

I thought the issue was going to be that he'd come back with a small bar, whereas clearly you needed a large one!!
hahaha. This! My other half instantly said... "did he get the wrong size bar?" then said "LTB" when I told him he'd got milk instead Grin
cuparfull · 06/11/2020 20:55

DH said choc even tho I'd never eat that waxy rubbish anymore.
Now that the American Company Mondelez have adulterated our creamy chocolate with Palm Oil in an effort to reduce costs, I'm in mourning for the original D/Milk or even Toblerone.

DukeOfEarlGrey · 06/11/2020 20:57

I thought of milk too. Would need to have been ‘dairy milk chocolate’ to avoid this kind of crisis!

Fedoos · 06/11/2020 20:57

Chocolate, obviously! 🤣 Oh, OP - I can feel the crushing disappointment from here.

Mustbe3ormorecharacters · 06/11/2020 21:01

I honestly would have bought dairy milk, not dairy milk chocolate.
Dairy milk= milk
Milk chocolate= dairy milk chocolate.

Mochudubh · 06/11/2020 21:04

YABU. Dairy Milk is disgusting since it was taken over by Americans. Get some self respect and some decent chocolate.

2020nymph · 06/11/2020 21:05

@BecomeStronger

I buy 12 pints of milk a week. Is 6 excessive for a family? Blush

Same!

I would have thought chocolate, in fact, when I read the title I assumed he bought Dairy Milk caramel or another variety! Blush
