To expect to be able to ring my GP

My baby has eczema on his face which is getting worse. I've shown the pharmacist today who tells me she thinks it is infected and it definitely needs GP treatment. I rang my surgery only to finally get through and be told I need to do all urgent same day care appointments online and they'll get back to me within two days. Being as it is Friday I could be waiting until Tuesday afternoon. Which isn't great as the spread is worsening but I'm not actually around next week. I've explained all this and I still need to do it online. I completed the online form to be directed to either call 999 or go to A&E. Now obviously I know that's wrong too so I went back and completed it again. I just want some cream for my baby's face, you'd think it would be easier in this modern day not harder!

Ring 111. I did this on a Saturday with infected eczema and saw a Dr at the local minor injuries unit for a prescription.

@hammeringinmyhead that's good to know. I'll wait to see if I get a call in the next couple of hours. Was the prescription for you or for a child, did they need to be present at the minor injuries?

Ah yes, sorry, I didn't say! It was for DS who was about 10 months, and they needed to see him.

In my case I also saw a pharmacist who said his was infected and that helped them take it more seriously.

@hammeringinmyhead thanks for that. I always try to see the pharmacist first to not burden the doctors surgery but obviously he needs to be seen by them. It's so frustrating. I'm not able to take a call next week at all so will have to try 111 if I get nothing today.
