Is this wrong?

My partner is a travelling sales rep selling tools and consumables to car garages. On average he visits around 20 different customers per day.
His boss has told him to carry on as normal during the new lockdown.
Is this ok?
The message is if you can't do your job effectively from home then still go to work but it just seems wrong that he's going in and out of so many places?!

The guidance says people can continue to work in other peoples homes so this seems fine to me - is he vulnerable health wise ? Struggle to see why it’s suddenly dangerous for him tonight when it was fine til now

I’m glad to hear he is working and tools are being delivered to garages.

Does everyone really expect the world to stop turning and get paid time off?

LagneyandCasey · 04/11/2020 22:59

I'm sure he can protect himself adequately by socially distancing and wearing a mask. It's only the vulnerable and those who can work at home who shouldn't go to work.

I understand why you're concerned especially if he didn't work in the first lock down, but unfortunately they are the rules now. Can he wear a mask etc?

coronaconfused20 · 05/11/2020 08:30

It's not that he's bothered about catching it (I've had it and it was only a mild case, it's likely he probably has already had it but didn't display any symptoms) he's more concerned that he's breaking the rules.
He's not asking to not work, he was hoping he could maybe have a secure space in the office and do his job over the phone or at least make appointments with his customers so that he's not turning up unannounced to places. His job is to go in and out of places showing them their catalogue and taking orders, he was more worried that this was breaking the new restrictions as opposed to being concerned about actually catching anything.

Yes he can wear a mask and use sanitiser between calls, both of which he's having to provide himself as his boss has taken no steps to maintain the safety of anything other than his sales figures 🤷🏻‍♀️
