Child maintenance help

Hi All,

Apologies I am shamelessly posting for traffic...

Can anyone advise me on how collect and pay for CMS works? - I've just received a notification in my self service account to say collect and pay has now been approved... what does this mean?
My ex is avoiding at all costs to pay child maintenance. Does collect and pay mean he has to pay CMS in order for them to pay me because he definitely isn't going to do that either!

Thanks

Yes that's what it means. He will have to pay them an additional 20% & you will have 4% deducted from your payments. If he still fails to pay of his own will they will put an attachment of earnings through his employer. If he is self employed prepare yourself for a long slog. My ex is and is currently £2000 in arrears in less than a year and especially due to covid they don't have a lot of power at all.

@Parmavioletmum after 30 minutes on hold i FINALLY got through to them!! they have basically applied for a deduction of earnings order and it's all set up now.. he ignored the letter they sent regarding switching the service to collect and pay and they gave him 14 days to respond so they've enforced attachment of earnings., should get my daughters first maintenance payment in January!
