To be annoyed that an old friend has deleted me off her Facebook

I recently found on Facebook the girl who I was best mates with at college for 2 years and she accepted me as a friend. I noticed today she's no longer on my friend list, but she's still on Facebook so I'm guessing she's deleted me. I wrote a message on her "wall" and she never replyed back. I feel like emailing her and asking her why she couldn't at least be polite enough to say hello. I mean I know life moves on but....how rude!

Yes this is an inherent problem with Facebook. Maybe she's trying to keep her list to people she genuinely sees a lot or people who are in her life at the moment.

It does seem rude not to reply to the wall thing but then maybe she isn't on the computer all that often and doesn't get roudn to it.

My dh will leave his facebook page for weeks without looking at it or checking out emails about it.

blazingsandals · 15/10/2007 22:35

Oh the perils of being defriended! She perhaps has a rule which says 'if I haven't been in a room with you for a year, you are off the list'?

Tis very rude though, I have a couple of people on my friend list I can't bloody stand (including my MiL) but they are there in the name of diplomacy!

StripeyKnickersSpottySocks · 15/10/2007 22:36

Mmmm, well she was updating her staus every day. I feel like emailing her and asking why she doesn't want to be my friend. Sob, I feel like I'm 14 again, sniff.

I have a facebook and a myspace, but actually don't like the past thingy, most people who are in my past are there for a reason. it kind of annoys me that i've let so many people know so much stuff about me, when clearly they don't need to know.

But in answer to your question yes i would be pissed off.

Spiderhammer · 15/10/2007 22:38

I found the woman my dh had an affair with just over ten years ago on Facebook whilst browsing through the friends of another friend.

I wished I could do more than just poke her I can tell you. They need a 'slap her' option.

xXxspookyxXx · 15/10/2007 22:38

bit rude though she probably just wants people in here present on it

StripeyKnickersSpottySocks · 15/10/2007 22:41

I think there is a "slap" option now.

Actually I find it worse to studiously ignore friend requests and messages. My cousin has been ignoring me for weeks and I know she's active on the site. The cowbag!

I only asked her to be friends because she only has four!

Once you "delete" a friend, can you get them back? A "friend" deleted me, and I was about to get all upset and offended, but then I realised that he was no longer a friend of any of our mutual friends either. So it must be his problem not mine.

A friend told me she didn't believe in FB (and so ignored my friend request) as if she wanted to talk to someone she would either email or just pick up the phone!

It is addictive though....

bookwormmum · 16/10/2007 13:47

You can rerequest a friendship unless the person has deleted themselves or blocked you for some reason. In which case, you'll never see them on Facebook even if they are using it. They can still see you though .

Not that I use Facebook very much .

UnquietDad · 16/10/2007 13:48

You need a Fun Wall for a Slap option, I think.

Fimbo · 16/10/2007 13:51

Can you join Facebook using a nickname or does it have to be your real name. I am curious about it, but don't want all in sundry popping up.

UnquietDad · 16/10/2007 13:53

Everyone I know on it is there under their own name.

GibbonInABloodSoakedRibbon · 16/10/2007 13:54

Is she is still on your friends list you are still on hers...and she may have missed the notification that you wrote on her wall. Has happened to me and I've felt awful when I have seen it days later.
