Ahhhhhhhh they just come at you from all angles. My local page does business posts first Monday of the month and they are on fire. Three Scentsey, a zillion body shop at home consultants does anyone buy body shop these days? Avon, I'm waiting on forever living maybe she's given up or if off living her best life 😂 AIBU or are they actually going to make some money out of lockdown Christmas shopping ?

I hope not. Totally hate mlms and their “Huns” and “boss babes”. Mlms are horrid and predatory. The worst thing is that those selling these products seem totally blind to the fact they are involved in one.

My Nextdoor site is full of knockoff perfume, body shop and Avon and whilst I feel sorry for people who are just trying to make some cash as they have been laid off or hours cut they are not going to make any money flogging mlm crap at inflated prices.

NerrSnerr · 02/11/2020 10:54

They've been trying to get lots of people in precarious financial positions to sign up since Covid started. Our village has more Body Shop agents than bloody anything at the moment. Who is buying it? Loads of the imitation perfume ones are cropping up too.

I had someone stop talking to me during lockdown because I dared point out that the MLM they just joined was especially awful. I fear they've already drained their main circle of custom, the trouble when you're lacking money is that most of you're friends are in the same situation. They can't afford to pay your outgoings every month.

I hate how MLMs take advantage of women, especially those in either a financially or mentally bad place. I refuse to buy from them (I refuse to by Body Shop anyway, after their JKR fuckwittery).

Oh yes fake perfume and fake perfume advent calendars I forgot that one. And yoooooonique presenters !
I bumped into a vague friend when pumpkin picking and on her Facebook with her pumpkin pics she said she was able to be there due to her side hussle?! It was free to get in, but ok you had to pay for a pumpkin, but they were really reasonable compared to some places. Cheapest which I got was £2.50, which for a morning out in half term was a bargain ! She does the jewellery MLM, forget the name it's usually parties, but they've gone virtual.

I'm broke as anything, but after a brush with Avon in the distant past I won't be a MLM or buy from any of them.

I had a friend request from an old acquaintance during lockdown and accepted it, looking forward to catching up with them. She sent a private message the next day thanking me for accepting the request, then said she'd added me as we had multiple mutual friends then went into the spiel of the "health and fitness" (aka crap coffee or juice or whatever this one is) business she had. I don't think she had actually recognised me after all. Sad

During lockdown I joined a secondary school reunion Facebook page. There's a thread about what people are up to now, some of us have started legit small businesses. Someone then started a thread about "sharing about our businesses and helping each other in this time" then proceeded to talk about her Body Shop At Home "business". I bit my tongue but I wanted to point out that being an MLM rep doesn't mean she's a small business owner, ffs.
