To think they should be allowed to wear their jumpers?

Since school reopened in September the children have been going to school in their PE kit on PE days.
I would usually give my children their school jumpers to wear but we have now been told they can't wear them and have to order the PE jumpers which cost £25 each. Complete rip off considering they only wear them once a week for a few months.
I don't understand why they can't wear their normal jumpers and just take them off for PE.
Considering I brought my children a new set of uniform per day in September I can't afford another £50 and I'm sure many others will be the same.
I was going to email and ask the school but decided they probably busy enough already.
Is it a bit mean they can't just wear their normal jumpers or are they justified in saying they need a separate jumper?

No, that’s crazy.

It's so shocking that schools like to squeeze as much money out of parents in a pandemic! It's hard enough trying to get by without extra expense! Its another thing for parents to worry about Sad

Ridiculous! They shouldn't be asking atents to fork put for extra at this time. Complain!

Utterly ridiculous.

It's pretty standard unfortunately.

Most of us discovered the first week that kids were expected to wear full PE kit on PE days, meaning we all bought too many uniform sets and not enough PE kit.

No one is very happy to have 5 sets of uniform and only need 3 at most, it's annoying, but just think that at least your school jumpers will last longer. 1 PE jumper that be used several times a week (2 or 3 normally) for the school year? It's not that outrageous.

Rosebel · 02/11/2020 00:04

They only have PE once a week though and they won't want the jumpers when it gets warmer.
I'm just struggling at the moment as I'm on maternity leave so have a reduced income. £50 isn't a lot to some people and I get that but it's hard when you simply don't have the money.

My son goes to a indi school and normally I buy a branded PE jumper and branded polo. But not this year. Both are fron.the supermarket as it all felt a bit pointless. My son says he isnt the only one wearing non branded as no one has asked him not to.

Could you buy a size or two up so it lasts longer? Or is there a second hand uniform shop at school?
