Then anyone trying to have a break from the topic for a while can avoid it?

Ickabog · 01/11/2020 16:37

Isn't this a coronavirus thread posted in AIBU??

Confused
Witchend · 01/11/2020 16:38

Like this one. @MNHQ can you move this one please. Grin

SilverRoe · 01/11/2020 16:38

Most are easily identifiable from the title so can’t you just scroll past?

Lucindainthesky · 01/11/2020 16:43

Yes, yabu. If you want to stick your fingers in your ears and pretend we're not in the middle of a pandemic, then scroll on.

Covid is affecting lives on so many levels, not every thread necessarily needs to be in the coronavirus section.

TellingBone · 01/11/2020 16:46

Pile on! Grin

I think there should be a topic named 'Coronavirus-AIBU' the answer is generally yes anyway.
Then actual AIBU would be left free for all the entertaining bunfights about parking, shoes on or off in the house and cat poo in the garden just like the olden days.

I suspect it's more people who are on the very edge of a mental heath crisis coming on here to read AIBU for distraction and coming across threads like "AIBU to think this lockdown will last more than 4 weeks?"

It's not about sticking your fingers in your ears and pretending, it's about support.

Totally agree. Come on MN for a bit of a diversion and even AIBU is full of CV this CV that, sometimes you need a break from it. Doesn't mean you are pretending it's not happening because you don't want to read about it and discuss it 24/7.

Don't be ridiculous, some posters come on here for a break from wall to wall covid and lockdown and perfectly reasonable to expect to be able to have the topic hidden and the most basic level of moderation to help the mental health of posters who are struggling

There is a whole world out there you know, MN isn't the only place to get information.

Sparklingbrook · 01/11/2020 16:59

MN is probably the worst place to get CV information an awful lot of guesswork and speculation going on.

pralineandketchup · 01/11/2020 17:01

I agree op. I hide them all when I see them.

RufustheSniggeringReindeer · 01/11/2020 17:05

I agree with this and the others

Im a great one for people posting where they like in reason and it does piss me off on some subjects when posters complain about things being in the ‘wrong’ subject

BUT

This is stressing a lot of people out, and although people are capable of not opening a thread some of the titles are very emotive

Heyahun · 01/11/2020 17:13

Ugh I’ve unfollowed the topic - but they still show up in trending - it’s so depressing - don’t think you can proper avoid them unless you never look at the trending page

RunningWaterfall · 01/11/2020 17:17

Might be worth trying to get this section more active again. Was a nice escape before.

She's NOT BU

SOME people are really struggling and are using MN to switch off from the relentless thoughts of Covid.

MNHQ have provided a coronavirus topic. It's incredibly selfish to post about it outside of the topic (that people can hide if they wish)

Ps: I'm NOT personally upset/triggered by Covid threads, but I respect the feelings of those who are.

ChocBeforeCock · 01/11/2020 17:18

I don’t think any topic should be banned from AIBU.

Sparklingbrook · 01/11/2020 17:21

'Hide thread' continues to be one of the best MN functions IMO.

Lucindainthesky · 01/11/2020 17:25

If people are struggling with their mental health (which as an anxiety sufferer I get) then perhaps a break from social media is what's needed rather than trying to dictate what or where things are posted. Nobody is forcing people onto the internet, there are other things to do

TellingBone · 01/11/2020 17:26

Haha yes. More cat poo and unreasonable neighbours! That's the stuff.

I'm not so much stressed out with 'thing', just fed up to the back teeth seeing the topic all the time. There IS a board for it for all you interested parties. Get thee hence.

You're not obliged to open and read every thread.
And tbh, if you are so invested in MN that you want to start organising the filing, it might be time for a hobby.
